    WoW2GW2

Absolute noob here so please forgive me.

I play WoW but it has become too much of a "job". Not because of the grind, but because it is subscription-based. I feel like I have to log in to get my money's worth. Kind of difficult since my ISP is total jellybeans and makes playing online games unreliable. So my WoW playing is inconsistant and there are days at a time where I can't log in.

So that kind of attracted me to GW2. F2P, so I don't feel like I'm wasting money when I don't play.

But I don't really know the game. My biggest fear is that it is PvP all the time, and I'll just get ganked every step I take. Is this true, or I do I simply don't know the game?

Is GW2 playable by those who only want to PvP when they want to? What about solo content? (Again, that unreliable connection keeps me from a lot of pre-planned organised stuff.)

    Thanks for not flaming me.

Its an open world like WoW but the PvE and PvP are kept entirely separate. You have the usual battle pvp which will grow over time with maps and stuff or you have World v World which are like large PvE maps with servers fighting against eachother. You don't have to touch pvp at all ever if its not what you want. Most content is soloable but you will need to team up for the last couple of storyline missions and dungeons, otherwise you can pretty much do everything without ever teaming up if thats what you want. Being in an open world you have harvest nodes which you don't need to fight others to get to, its all yours, they get their own. Loot and exp is spread to everyone who takes part in the fight so theres no stealing kills, you fight together towards a common goal then go your separate ways when your done.. Everyone can res other players and you even get exp for it. Once you outlevel an area and come back your level is brought back down to the area level so that the content is still challenging and fun (although your better armour, weaps, skills and traits will make you better)

There isn't any real PvP so you don't have to worry about getting attacked. If what you love about WoW is the raiding or just farming gear you probably won't like GW2.

Hmm, now try putting forward some positives. Not all people liked raiding or farming in WoW.

Not sure what you mean by there is no real pvp. There is structured PvP and WvW which is similar to open world PvP except you have to choose to join into it and it has objectives rather than just providing an area for bored fully geared players to gank lowbies.

As for the ops questions, you can solo the whole game except for the dungeons and the very last mission of your personal story line which is story mode for a dungeon.

Another great feature is if you do drop connection you can pick right back up where you left off, even if you are running a dungeon you will still be in your party when you log back in and you can just jump back into the dungeon.

What about endgame. Once you reach 80, what do you do?

For example, in World of Warcraft (I only use that as a comparison since that is the only MMO I have ever played), there are dailies, dungeons, raids, archaeology (yuck!), Pokemon (pet battles) and other stuff.

Once you hit 80 in Guild Wars, what do you do

You do what you always do from Level 1-80. Dailies, Dungeons, Boss fights, WvW, PvP, etc. All can be done anytime in your game. Although completing dungeons as a downscaled level 80 is still easier than being a true same level of the dungeons.

Also, working towards obtaining that super duper rare and hard to get Legendary Weapons.

Don't worry about it! GW2's doing gear progression. Give it a year or two and it'll be WoW.

I think I'm going to have to try this game out.

And thank you for being kind to someone who had absolutely no idea what this game was about.
