Apart from the Panda's, pet bat battles was the last straw, but your pokemon description is more accurate

I agree. If you don't obsess over raiding then GW2 is a great game. It just seems to be the biggest issue ex-WoW players have with the game so I brought it up.

Not sure what you mean by there is no real pvp. There is structured PvP and WvW which is similar to open world PvP except you have to choose to join into it and it has objectives rather than just providing an area for bored fully geared players to gank lowbies.
WvW is nothing at all like world PvP and real PvP has very little to do with ganking lowbies. The ideas people on this forum have about PvP are just odd in general. None of that changes the fact that he doesn't have to worry about getting attacked in this game, not that he really had to worry about it in WoW if he just picked one of the dozens of non-PvP servers.

Don't be so sure. OP, you might find yourself right at home in the "new" GW2.

How is WvW not like open world pvp? It's a pve environment where you can fight other players. It has dynamic events, vistas, skill points, jumping puzzles and everything else that pve has. The only thing it doesn't have is your personal story which is instanced anyway.

the only real difference between WvW and open world pvp on another game is they give you objectives and everyone is leveled to 80 so you can't go around griefing people by 1 shotting them because you've been playing the game longer.

I won't derail the thread by answering that Jim Hunter but there are other posts on the forum that go into open world PvP. I'll gladly comment on it in one of those.

GW2 is a great game as long as you don't live or die by open world PvP or a gear grinding raid style end game. If those two areas being lacking doesn't bother you than GW2 has as much or more to offer than any other MMORPG out right now. It offers a lot of dungeons, a very nice leveling progression and some well made objective based PvP options. I would definitely give it a try if those two things don't bother you OP.
