I didn't see this thread and posted a rage thread in GW2 General...

I'm also quitting the game like Ruse. And I've been a huge fan of the game and a defender of it. I'm not going to bash the game and tell others to "see the light" or anything because there is no light to see. If you PVE, sPvP or do dungeons, you either don't care or might even be happy about it. If you WvW like I do, you are beyond upset very likely.

Even if they go back and don't do this due to the backlash, I'm still done. Can't believe they would do this after making such a huge deal about how they and this MMO is different. Umm, why, because you don't have pandas and a sucription fee? You have gear grind (and have plans for more) and a gem system; I know it's not the same, but its not as different as they said it would be and not as different as I'd like.

Oh well, been thinking about getting the two Skyrim DLC's but didn't because of GW2...time to do that tonight I guess.

Might I suggest moving the thread from the News section into here. No one really looks there when they want to discuss something, they go straight for the General, on every forum.

Absolutely, I'm not bashing the game or telling others to stop playing. It's the principle of the thing for me now. They said they were different. This was supposed to be THAT kind of MMO. No gear grind. (even if this plays out ok, thye have more plans) It was supposed to be all cosmetic and everything even. What happened to that??? Somebody please tell me how that has any credibility left.

I WvW and the difference in gear can make a difference in elite players. And yes, I don't go around beating my chest here but I'm an elite ele. I have 7500 WvW kills and I don't zerg, half of that is solo kills. If I see you 1on1 you have zero chance, you better hope you have friends coming or Alt F4 handy. But often enough I fight trully good opponents and there are times where the difference in the fight is insanely small and gear would make a difference.

Yesterday there was an invader thief running around soloing camps and people. He however would /point and /bow and challenge people to duels. he was GOOD. He took all our camps and everyone that tried to solo him got FACE ROLLED. I fought him too and lost. But then I ran out and found him again and wanted a rematch. We fought again and I won. Both times it was insanely close and a great fight. I'm sure we were both geared out and the difference was in skil and build and it was super entertaining. And how it should be. The question of gear shouldn't even come into it.

Well, the News section definitely is the right location for this thread. If people don't learn to look here, we might as well get rid of sections entirely and put everything in General... which is definitely not what we have in mind. There's way too much in General already.

Besides, our "New Posts" button at the top left should make it easy enough to locate the threads that have gotten recent updates...

I'm disappointed primarily because they said they wouldn't do this rather than how it will affect me personally. I may or may not get ascended gear or even stick around long enough where it would matter to me, but it seems completely opposed to how they've structured the game before this point.

In general I only gear through drops or crafting and I haven't done dungeons yet. I'm not a competitive enough player to do dungeons just to get gear, and I'd rather do them because I want to not because I'm forced.

Well, they totally slapped their design philosophy in the face with this one. Starting to wish I had spent less money in the gem store as I'm not sure what I'm supporting anymore.

SWEET. Progressively more difficult dungeon and new gear to work toward to replace the shit that I worked oh so hard to get (re: sarcasm) at level 80. Looks like I have something to return for - THANKS ANET :smug:

One mitigating factor might be if you can buy and sell this new stuff on the auction house. If that's the case, it might be okay.

lol you could buy/sell specific Tier 1 and Tier 2 pieces in WoW also.

At the end of the day, how you acquire gear doesn't matter. Gear progression is gear progression. What I don't understand is why they've given us a new "tier". What's the point of having it other than a slight edge in WvW? It's definitely NOT required for any of the current explorable modes.

I don't get it. It's seems like a stupid idea, it's making a lot of people mad, and it goes against what they promised while the game was in development.
