SOOOO Achievement Points got nerfed?
How trivial.
I'm not telling you it's a waste or not a waste. I'm telling you it's a matter of perspective. What you feel is not fact. It's what you feel. And your feeling is valid. It's valid for you.
I didn't spent tons of money or karma buying stuff, because I was relatively sure lots of stuff would change and I was waiting for the shake out. My basis for this? Every MMO I've ever played. They all do shit like this. They try stuff, it's a new game, stuff doesn't work, they change it around. It happens in every MMO I've ever seen and people scream about it in every MMO.
There are some very valid points in Centaur's post. Guesting not being in, that's certainly valid. The security concerns, those are valid and much of it is being fixed or fixed already. Not being able to roll back an account if it's been hacked is huge.
Trying to get the balance of stuff to do right in a new game. Sure it's valid, but it's also expected. How many times did I respec in Rift because they changed the skills every other day for months? I can't even imagine.
Yes, you lost currency you would have had. But you've either had fun playing the game or not. If you don't enjoy WvW anymore, don't play it and do something else.
But I don't think Anet knew at release that they'd have to add this stuff. In fact, I'm relatively sure they didn't know, so how COULD they have told you.
If you don't like the game, find a game you like more. I don't know about you, but there isn't one for me.
This is going to be a storm in a tea cup. A few percentage points of players are going to leave over this. And some of you, unfortunately, are strong Anet supporters and you'll leave because you took every word so seriously that you feel when they change something, Anet has lied.
But yet, this prediction of total gear treadmill is still premature. And many aren't going to see it that way. So if Anet loses 5% of their WvW'ers and gains 5% or more somewhere else, it's not going to largely affect things.
Do you think enough people will leave that there won't be people WvWing, because I don't.
I'm not trying to trivialize people's concerns here. I'm saying why assume what will be, when we haven't seen what will be yet. At least wait for result before deciding that Anet is going to start a gear treadmill.
It's not "every word," Vayne. It's the basis of horizontal gear progression that they touted everywhere before the game launched, over and over and over. It's the manifesto they built their game on. So, yes. I guess I did take their manifesto seriously. I sort of thought, since it was at the heart of and the driving force of the game, I could safely do that.
We're not exactly pulling out some obscure quote here.

I'm not saying you are. I'm saying companies before have got stuff wrong and changed it. And some people leave because of those changes, because they are so vested in those changes. This happened to me in Rift, so I get it. I left Rift because I felt lied to.
But the thing is, I still had Guild Wars 2 to look forward to when I left Rift. There's no MMO that's better than this, with all it's faults, and I like MMOs, so what exactly do I do? Throw in the towel because something got added to the game I didn't like? I could.
But again, if this stuff is available for gold on the trading post, then I don't care, because it doesn't affect me. If it's not, and it's soul bound or character bound, then I too will be getting upset.
I'm just not getting upset before I actually find out.
I haven't once said people are wrong about this. I'm saying until I see what it does to the game, I'm not taking a stance.
