It just came to me... you guys have been complaining about repetetive dungeon grinding in WoW for as long as I am on this forum, right? You can't seriously be suggesting that doing the same dungeon over and over and over again is what you think of as fun now, can you?
No offense mates, but... have you ever seen a hippo in crete? :P
As I said, repeatedly I'm not grinding that dungeon. I have no intention of doing it. That's the point. There is nowhere you actually need the gear but that single dungeon. I can play everything else and never touch that dungeon and, get this, I can play that dungeon on rank 1 and see ALL the content, without grinding. That's the point.
What content is actually gated by that gear? Maybe you should look up hypocritical in the dictionary.
I don't want my gear to gate content, period. That's all I care about. If I can see everything, then it's not like WoW.
Which is already creating its own problems. People who have finished 10-11 levels of the dungeon really aren't interested in going back to 1 with someone who just started it. I don't know why they chose the level to be gated by the lowest level achieved by the party rather than the highest since you can always choose down.
Competitive players aren't casual players and many just enjoy the dungeon for the fun of it. Half my guild has gone on to higher levels and half still play it on level 1. And some of the guys at higher levels come in with us and play on level 1. In fact, there are some who prefer to farm on level 1, because it's easier and they get stuff faster.
So I haven't personally run into this problem.
Sorry Jim, but you're not a casual player by most people's definition. Casual players, for one thing, don't sit and post on forums. By definition they're not entering competition. You might see yourself as casual, but if you were to arrange a spectrum of players from casual to hard core, you'd certainly be closer to hard core than casual, no matter how you see yourself. It's all relative.
Even me, and I'm a lot more "casual" than you, would be considered a hard core player compared to the casuals. Casual people don't involve themselves in a game as deeply as we do, and they certainly don't boycott games that go in a direction they don't like, because they're casual...they don't have the same focus on the game. If you were truly casual, the new changes wouldn't even be a blip on your radar.
