Mayitto, I haven't salvaged rares in a while (after the nerf) since I didnt want to gamble with it. You should still be able to get ecto's from rares, just not as many as you used to. (unless they rolled back the nerf, I haven't followed it too closely)
They nerfed them too and now if you combine 4 yellows (rare) in the forge you have 1 chance in a bunch to get anything good.

Since November the nerf rate has increased, now you basically get nothing in the open world as drops, before I could make 1-2 golds just killing mobs and selling the spoils daily in 2-3 hours, now it takes me 3-4 days to make the same amount of gold.Originally Posted by Alexanian

Idk why your so broke. after exotics, there is very little to spend money on regularly. You must die a LOT. And i beleive anet believes that your legendary isnt a grind becasue you can get the materials from doing basically anything in the game. Just playing consistently will move you closer to your legendary.

Don't know about you, I get ectos all the time. Farm some mats, make some golds from the top tier crafting, salvage them. It takes a while, its' not hard. If you're in a rush, that's your fault.
Legendaries are supposed to take a lot of time to get. That's why they're legendary.
Things have been nerfed. No question. Ironic that the nerfs didn't happen until after the botters got cleaned up a little.
So, we can get ectos from salvaging rares still? That's good to know. I recently salvaged 20 rares in the range of 75-80, but I didn't get any ectos, so I wasn't sure if they were available that way anymore.
Which salvage kit did you use?
