Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
So the newest Call of Duty was just released today, are you getting it? What about it appeals / doesn't appeal to you?
For me, the game looks pretty sick, apparently they added dedicated servers to the PC version, they launched the game with I believe 4 or 5 maps for Zombies (In contrast to the two Zombie maps for Black Ops) and an extra game mode for Zombies called Grief Mode. Despite what most people say, I tend to watch IGN's reviews, and they claimed this was the best Multiplayer and Campaign so far, and based on the gameplay footage presented in the video, it looks like it could be!
I'm very hopeful for this game, but at the same time I'm a bit disappointed, the PC users get the shaft again. While having dedicated servers is a huge plus, the PS3 and 360 versions have cool features like the ability to Livestream their gameplay from the use of an ingame feature and of course the benefits of COD Elite for free.

Bought the game earlier today on steam, and I must say I'm more than pleasantly surprised. Only been playing campaign so far but, it's been a blast! Especially if you compare it to older cod games.

I haven't bought a CoD game in like 7 years and I don't plan to change that, ever. But the "There's a soldier in all of us" commercial was genius. I lol'd pretty hard.

Well... I had been telling on my CoD friends on the PSN that I would NOT be buying Black Ops II, but that I would play it if I didn't have to pay for it. This is because I'm sick of paying for a broken product (which CoD has become thanks to the fact that the engine has been hacked, and Activision refuses to make a new one, thus all the games have been hacked, and I'm sure even BO2 has been hacked by now, as well).
Anyway, as luck would have it, I won a free copy of the game from an online giveaway fro ma local store here in Utah... so yeah. So I'll be getting my free copy in a few days and will be playing it here or there (but likely only with certain PSN friends, and thus never on my own), allowing it take a back seat to the awesomeness that is GW2, lol.
Its kinda funny really... this is the second year in a row that I have won CoD prizes... last year I won a free ticket to CoD Elite XP in LA, but since I couldn't go, I sold it online from like $80 (it was $150 ticket, but still), which paid for my copy of MW3 plus some.
So yeah! Seems I have lots of luck when it comes to CoD giveaways.

I still have Black Ops 1 sat on the shelf that i haven't even touched yet for the PS3...one day one day lol
Lad at work been off sick for last 2 days so i've been winding his boss up telling him he's on a Black Ops binge...no idea if he is or not (i know he queued for the last one)...but should be fun when he comes back hehe

Heh... I worked at Blockbuster when MW2 came out, and I ran our midnight release party (as well as two in store tournaments for CoD4 and World at War leading up to its release), and then was given the next two days off to play (as was another employee), though such was never asked for, as our manager just assumed we'd want it, lol.

So I got the game on Tuesday. Haven't touched the Campaign so I can't get any feedback on that unfortunately, but I can talk about the Zombies + Multiplayer!
The Multiplayer feels much more fast paced compared to the other CODs. To me, the majority of the maps feel smaller than maps in previous CODs, thus making certain weapon lay outs like an SMG with laser sight the dominant choice. There are still a few maps with at least some range to make Assault Rifles and Snipers more viable, and I found that whenever I snipe, I hit what I shoot, they really seemed to have improved Sniping this time around. Also, players can now add bots to private matches and are able to do some decently extensive editing and modifying in regards to the game types / maps / bots.
I've yet to see any hacks, glitches, rubber banding, and unfair-knife-play, but I have seen some crazy distance on some of the shotguns.
Zombies is back and improved. There's a lot of cool little things that they added like the fact you can pack-a-punch twice, different game types (Grief Mode, Transit, etc.), interesting maps/terrain/environmental hazards, and a new "invention system" (you can build weapons / tools that can help you via finding parts and putting them together). Like all Nazi Zombie Games, there are glitches that have and haven't been found yet in regards to surviving unlimited amount of rounds without any fear from zombies, so that's always fun. They enabled migrating host so if the host leaves, it'll choose another host from the group, but it can sometimes be glitchy.
The only gripe I have in regards to Zombies, is that it appears that only one map / two gametypes have those funny voice actor lines (I don't have Nuketown Zombies, so I can't speak for that map), the other ones seem to have literally zero dialog (one game you play as dudes from the CIA, very sneaky quiet dudes, and the guys from the CBC that wear the odd hazmat suit who again, don't talk).

I don't have my copy yet, but aside from fixing the hit detection on sniper rifles (which is awesome, btw, but it means I may have to relearn how to use my snipers, lol), it sounds like the game is suffering from all the same basic mp crap that every CoD has suffered from since MW2... expect the shotguns to be nerfed and the assault rifles to be buffed in upcoming patches... and then they'll nerf some of the assault rifles after realizing they over powered them, all while they ignore the SMG issues, and allow the game to be dominated by them once again.

I don't plan on getting it, I got sick of COD and it's unbalanced online gameplay with all those overpowered kill streak tools (which is why I tend to play barebones back then). Right now I'm more into Counterstrike: GO (for arcade style) and Battlefield 3 (for serious fps) at the moment. I may end up borrowing it from a friend when I can though to see how much has changed for myself.

For me, CoD is purely for hanging out with me PSN friends in a game THEY enjoy... yeah, I'm good, and so are they (some are better, some are worse, but we're all 1.5+ KDR thanks to the fact that we've been playing since CoD4), but its more of a habit now than anything. It can be fun, sure, but its more fun to just talk to your friends while doing something than anything. Unfortunately, CoD is the only game that we ALL are willing to play, so there you go.
