That's NOT a point. Just because you find it doesn't mean it's there. I replay through lots of games that have literally ZERO replay value other than the fact that I liked the game. This game gives us the option to do anything but gives us no reasons to do any of it.

Now they're trying to fix that. But by doing so, they're hurting it more than helping it. Even if the patch turns out to be amazing, the damage has been done.

Actually, they are putting two new tiers in, most likely because they think it will make the game better. We don't know if scaling will be adjusted because...survey says....we haven't played it yet. It also could suck at first and they could fix it.

Until I see, play, try something, I don't make assumptions about it. Anet might really be saying look, we feel we needed this to make the game better, rather than I'm kowtowing to a few people who think they need this.

We don't know, because we don't work there.

I just feel you're making an awful lot of assumptions.
So can you tell me what you believe they think they got wrong? Then elaborate on how this fixes it long term. Thanks in advance.

Lets make a silly analogy. I say I'm going to punch you in the face. Are you going to have a negative reaction to it and prefer not to get punched in the face? But survey says...I haven't punched you in the face yet, don't be so quick to judge it.

I'm saying THEY think they've got it wrong. They want people to have stuff to do at max level. This much is obvious. I don't necessarily agree with the way they're doing it, but until I try it, I can't say one way or another.

If this new armor can be bought and sold, people will farm it, others will buy it, everyone will have it, and it's no big deal. If this stuff is all soul bound, then it probably will be a big deal. Right now I don't know.

What I'm trying to do, as I've said over and over, is reserve judgement until I try it. Is that really so unreasonable?

What they got wrong, to directly answer your question is the amount of stuff to do for people at level 80 who don't PvP and who don't have a zillion alts like I do. They're trying to rectify it. They may have made a mistake by going this route, but only time will tell.

Nothing is wrong with you continuing to play and waiting to see. Never said there was. BUt many people are leaving and they're not wrong either.

But exactly, thank you for answering my questing....they wanted to give people something to do at max level. I was under the impression the game was already designed as such for their target audience. If more gears (with higher stats) are something they think is needed to do at end game for certian players...what will those players have to do at end game once they attain the new Ascended gear? You're a smart guy, I know you're waiting to see, but if your life depended on making a call as to what will happen in the future, I bet you could figure out where this is headed. Its not like now when you have the Ascended gear and are in the exact same place you are now with exotics...those people will magically think they have sometihng to do. If you cater to people who think end game = more higher level gear, there's only one direction with that.

They wont have anything to do ._. it's just going to get worse. They'll get the better gear, farm the crap out of the new dungeon just like they did the old, and then be BORED again because this isn't going to be true progression. It'd be like if WoW released 1 heroic dungeon a month and unlocked one boss in each raid with each content patch.

It's no big deal until they release the next level of armor. I've done the gear grind before, it sucks, I don't need to do it again to know I don't like it. Not having to do a damned gear grind is my main reason for playing this game and if they are going to throw that out the window then I'm sure I can find something else.

Once more: most of the things in the OP are based on the game as is, not on what it might be next week. Until I see actual improvements, I don't assume that any of these improvements will come in the upcoming patch, or in the next one after that.
You've made it clear that you haven't reached that same level of gameplay yet and that as of now you don't share most of my concerns, and that you can't comment on the rest as you haven't played that yet. So can I recommend that you just refrain from so vehemently defending the game and just let this rest until you can actually say something about it? Right now this discussion is going along the lines of "I disagree with you because I don't know for sure if I should disagree with you"... which isn't leading anywhere.

And for everyone else: if you just want to discuss the upcoming ascended gear, then please use the existing thread for that. Thank you.

This game was supposed to cater to people burned out on grind.
Again. This is old hat.So PvE skills in EotN in GW1 were'nt the same?My definition of "evolving" is catering to player demand, in the non-subscription model in a way that attempts to cater to all and keep people playing.

The point is that it's optional. From what I have read and heard the tier hierarchy that such gear would create is laughable if not completely negligible to the average player. If I'm wrong please tell me.I get the complaints.I too am highly skeptical of such mechanics but you guys really have to wake up and appreciate the relevance of such a great game trying to keep everyone happy.

"I got to lvl 80 did the whole game and am bored" has been a repeated mantra on this and other forums.Without doubt it's the biggest complaint I've seen anyway, obviously subjective.Anet are doing something about it, to capture, entertain and stay relevant and fun to that crowd....and you guys seemingly are complaining that you want to be playing GW1?

Anet will change things and break promises.
