I don't want to say it's not a gear grind because people that want the gear have to do A LOT of grinding to get it.

But I view it the same way as I view New Game+ in any RPG, particularly Dark Souls. You get max level, you get all your items, you beat all the bosses and then you start over. Your second play through is now exactly the same as your first. Same levels, same bosses, same everything, except they're harder.

You don't progress further because you're still doing the same content. It's just harder to complete.

It's voluntary gear grind is more to the point, not required gear grind. You choose to do it. That's like going for anything. It's not cosmetic, because there's a stat difference, but not enough of a different for you to need to it do content. The only content you need it for gives you that gear. It's something to keep people busy who LIKE gear grind, without making a big dent on anyone else. That's the point.

And the moment it's even less, because it's a ring and a backpack. The difference this makes is negligible in anyone's language. And if they add other ways to get it?

As I keep saying, no one knows, but I don't think that Anet is going to make this mandatory gear grind.

When we didn't know how this system worked, and it was just a new "tier" of gear. That was one thing. People were mad and speculating and then getting mad at their own speculation.
I knew that this was the way it would work ever since their first announcement about this. Nothing has changed there. Even if you're a casual player not interested in the gear grind, that doesn't mean that you aren't interested in playing a competition on how far you can get in this new dungeon. On top of that, they have introduced their first content that needs the new gear, and that they have made it clear that there is more to come. How much more endgame content will they introduce that is 'not for casuals'?

You'd be right if the increased stats were only effective within that same content. But the increased stats on your armor are better than anything else in the game, anywhere in the game. The vast majority of players wants max stat gear, making this content a necessity for them. Making grinding a necessity for them.

No doubt "content locusts" are ruining the game as I have five characters at level 25 and I am not having "fun" because there are so few people in the starter and mid-level areas that I can't complete group events and skill challenges by myself and I wait ten -15 minutes after I die and no one comes to help me because no one is there. The first 10 days after launch a lot of help was available but now I play by myself in an empty world. "The Lost Shores" was not any fun for me because I am not level 80 and I could not even kill stuff in the starter area so I quit it. I find it hard to believe that so many people have 100% completion as some of the vistas for me are impossible and not "fun" mostly because of camera problems and internet lag. I am not even thinking about jumping puzzles because of these issues. The fighting is very repetitive and somewhat easy and/or very hard if alone sometimes. Guild War I was very balanced and I played most of it using henchmen and this is what I need here as there are not enough people in all areas and this is not fair to people like me who are through and are taking their time exploring everything. Not sure what the true answers are but let's see if the developers can address some of these issues and not just keep on making content I won't be ready for until next summer 2013.

Have you considered increasing your mouse DPI and camera rotation speed? That increases quality of life a great deal. Kiting is still wonky as your camera actually has to face the mob, though Anet should fix it so you could run back, fire, and not looks awkwardly away or just flat out turn your back on them and run altogether.

Considering that Blizzard uses the arena server as a qualifier for their offline tournaments, I'd say it's pretty much official.

Out of curiosity, what server are you on. I have multiple alts and there's almost always people around on my server in early zones. Could be because it's an RP server, everyone has a ton of alts.

This makes zero sense. If you're going to be competitive with any form of gaming you're no longer casual. Period. If you're interested in getting further and investing the dedication to do so, everything is available to you. You get everything you need through the dungeon itself.

I don't see how anyone is limited from doing this content.

Yeah I don't get this either. Particularly because if you do the dungeon you get the stuff anyway. It's a weird sort of logic being applied here and I'm not following it.

The game crash twice. No let me re-enter. Lost the event (wich have participated in two different servers for the crashes) and get nothing, no chest, no items. Just shit and anger.
