Thread: Issues with GW2

-facepalm- Reread your first sentence. "You can feel liked to all you want, but Anet didn't lie." I can't keep this up, lol. You win. Wall of regurgitated text crits me like a Cloak and Dagger > Mug > Backstab combo. (Sorry, thief players, not trying to pick at fresh wounds.)

Actually you lied too. You said that you'd be letting this go and here you are back again. Not sure if it was this thread or the other one. See how easy it is to lie.

When you said it, you meant it, but you changed your mind. Does that make you a liar? I don't think so.

When people change their mind it's annoying. When business change their minds it feels like betrayal. And you guys all have the right to feel betrayed. But don't be mad at me because I see the need for something that you don't.

All I can say is, whatever promises or "manifesto" they may have had, I am very happy with the new changes. The new dungeons rule, and now I have sweet new gear to work toward. I'd gladly take a treadmill. What I don't want is rewards that used to be hard to get, later made easy to get. That's what WoW does over and over. Don't nerf dungeons or bosses, don't raise the level cap. That's why I bought GW2 and quit WoW.

I don't owe Anet anything. They obviously are marketing to another demographic, and that's their right, But after courting me for years, it's not unreasonable for me to be pissed about that, or lack all desire to support them.
You're right, you don't owe them anything. So stop supporting the game, stop buying things in the cash shop. But using a product(s) that you've ALREADY purchased doesn't hurt anything. You only really hurt yourself by throwing all of that away when you could easily still be having a good time.

You and anyone else that's mad about this change.

I mean I get why you're mad, I really really do. I just don't see how this is the correct response. That's all.

Actually, I would only hurt myself if I continued to play this game as it is now. The thing is, the game does have a lot of issues... I see that, and I have been hoping for solutions ever since launch. But the 'solutions' that they come with now, only contribute to the problem for me... to the extent where I just no longer enjoy playing this game. If they ever do come with solutions to my problems, then I will resume playing.

You know I agree with you that this game has a lot of issues. But none of them are really gamebreaking. They do need to be fixed, and hopefully they will be. But none of them are "Game is so bad! I'm out" imo.

If it were any of these issues by themselves, I would agree with you. But it's the total sum of issues - especially after adding the ones in this last update - and the fact that, with every single patch they release they are moving further away from fixing them - that just adds up to the "I'm out" for me.

I think people have forgotten, you always want to give an MMO about 6 months to see how it develops, not 2 and a half. GW2 is no exception, after about that long you can tell where the game is going and if it's going to succeed or not and if it's worth investing time into or not.

Not trying to get you to stay, just saying. It seems like a lot of the player base actually forgot this was an MMO and that your personal interests and views are not relevant unless you're in the majority. I mean, it totally sucks to feel like the dev's don't care about you. I've been there. But one patch doesn't prove anything as far as the direction in which the game is going.

I have no intention of playing a game for 6 months that I do no longer enjoy. But despite the issues, I have definitely had quite a bit of fun during the first months, I had my money's worth out of it, I'm not asking for a refund, and I will keep the game installed. So if, 3 months from now, the game is back on track and all the issues that I have with it now have been resolved, then I will most likely return. And it's not just this one patch... this is just the last splash (I won't say drop, as it's much bigger than that).

PS: and tbh, I don't really care if it's going to succeed or not with the direction it's currently heading in. WoW was (is) a big success, and I never cared about that game either. And I know ArenaNet will want/need that same kind of success (and many players would love to see it go in that direction). That's just not the kind of game that I am looking for, and that I enjoy playing.

To me, the game hasn't really changed much from the manifesto. What I got out of watching the manifesto is a game that I could explore and enjoy without grinding. That's what I got. I didn't exhaust all the content by any means. And all the other stuff is just gravy. The only way this update affected me at all is giving me a new dungeon to do that I like better than any of the other dungeons I've tried.

In fact, I'm not a huge fan of dungeons generally. The fractals play almost more like minigames and they're quite a bit more fun for me.

The rest of it is all theory until I see otherwise. I don't think anyone should play a game they don't enjoy. And I don't think anyone is wrong for continuing to enjoy a game they're already enjoying.

I do agree it sucks for those who feel lied to, or that the current direction is a bad place to be.
