In his defense that kangaroo was dressed like a total slut.
The changes will affect you eventually. The reason is that eventually content will be released either though a paid expansion or free expansion that you want to experience and your gear level or access level (example: fractuals requiring all party members to be at the same level to experience the same level) will limit you from getting to ALL the content you want to see or experience.
This could be happening right now, and its not gear based. For example, say you have run a half dozen fractuals and have not gotten to see all the mini-dungeons. Your only cleared for level 3 fractuals and now everyone is running 7+ level ones. You can't find a group and you can't progress to get back in and see that last mini-dungeon which is by chance anyways. What do you do?
Well, lets say you decide its ok to miss out and just keep WvWing or crafting or chatting... a few months go by and there is some new content. You get excited and take a look at the release notes and reviews, oh there is a new dungeon but you need to be cleared for Fractuals 25+ to get into it at all. Your only cleared to level 3 or lower. You can't find the groups to get to 25+ Fractuals.
What do you do?
Likely you will end up either logiclly quitting or you will just miss out.
I have usually quit games pretty fast when I felt content blocked. I quit WoW because my guild imploded and I could not find a new one with players consistently above early 20s to play with. I quit EQ2 for the same reason.. hell I even quit LOTRO because it became tedious to find a group and my guild seemed to be too elitist for a game that only really had 6 person grouping.
The point is Fractuals = Done Wrong.
What Anet should have done is provide a single player way to grind up level access or not put the mechanic in at all.
There are numerous problems with the fractals, but Anet won't be going in that direction. I was confident of that, because I know Anet. I watch what the company has done for the last 7 years and I believe that's what they're doing to continue doing. As a company, Anet doesn't gate content.
The game is really designed for more casual people. Anet isn't stupid. They know what side their bread is buttered on. So they throw in a concession to the grinders, and that's ALL it is. This isn't going to affect me, because as time goes on, there will be more ways to get this stuff that's easier and cheaper. It happened in Guild Wars 1, it'll happen here too. A zebra doesn't change it's stripes.
So we have a dungeon that I've seen the content in, that's been locked off from other progress. You say people can't find groups for low level fractals and I say, they must be in sucky guilds because my guild is a helpful one and people are always helping each other out with what they need. If people want to pug and solo in an MMO they're at the whim of the game, instead of creating their own environment within the game. I'm a big believer in creating my own environment within the game, so what pugs do and don't do doesn't much affect me, and probably never will.
My guild is still running regular dungeons, still running low level fractals for people who need that, still running in low level areas, sometimes just to keep people company.
No, this change won't be affecting me much. I do feel bad though for people who insist on pugging.
