The dungeon is amazingly fun. Surprising for me, because I don't like or enjoy dungeons. A love the call backs to Guild Wars 1 lore as well.

The big event wasn't that bad, but wasn't that good. It was a big slug fest that introduced the Karka. I enjoyed seeing the boat and the lighthouse get destroyed but it was meh.

The thing is, I knew it couldn't have been that awesome, because they were running it on Friday at noon when most people are working. You can get the big event is actually Saturday and particularly Sunday, the finale. This was just the appetizer, so to speak.

SOme of the quests are bugged, but I enjoyed figuring out the alchemy quest. As for rewards, do you remember the reward for the first part of the Halloween scavenger hunt? When I got that crappy little back gear, I was like great. Nice going Anet. Could you spare it? Fortunately the back piece I got from the second day was a lot better...but still not perfect.

But I still think this first day was a throwaway...give them time to work out the kinks for the weekend.

Aww.. you got a back piece from the Scavenger hunt? Everything I read for rewards was just a jug of karma and some mystic forge fusion stones so I just passed on it. I would have liked to get a back piece for one of my toons.

You can buy them from the Black Lion Trading Post (cheap, a few silver). I bought a nice rare one that I was able to stick a decent upgrade in. Kind of interesting that they invalidated the Mad Memories Book so quickly.

I'll have to take a look. I'm more of a seller on the BLTP then I am a buyer.

Anet needs to find better ways to do these events. Because I'm not a player who personally plays for rewards, it wasn't that bad for me. But the lag and disconnect issues have to go. I'm really not sure what the purpose of having a free friends weekend during an event like this is. We don't need more people and more server lag, do we?

I think having the entire population of the game in one time at one place doesn't really work. It didn't work in Rift when they tried it. I don't think the technology is there. The idea is great, but in execution, it's never as much fun as it seems it would be.

But some people loved it anyway, so who knows.

hahah I totally forgot about the free friends weekend thing. Oh my... that probably wasn't the smartest move to have that during one of the One Time Events. I mean, these are people who've never played the game, so their impression of the game was probably a giant laggy, buggy, disconnecty mess. Oy! That was probably not very smart.

Rift did the same thing, with pretty much the same result. I don't get it. Hopefully those people weren't just around for the events, but tried other parts of the game.

Anyway, the type of game you and I play isn't really compatible with these big zerg fests, anyway. Next time I'll come for the finale, but I'm going to skip the first two days of events. Not that I won't do the quest chains, but I won't be waking up early to do some laggy event that doesn't offer much by way of reward.

Again, I don't think you missed much. I'm glad I still like the rest of the game..oh and the new dungeon is a blast.

Yeah, I hope they got to experience the "normal" game. Otherwise it would probably have the opposite effect of what they where hoping for.

I can't wait to try it!! I'm wondering how the progression thing works though. I hear that each time you go in it gets progressively harder right? Like the dungeon levels up? The people who don't do it "hard core" will they get left behind? By time I get in and get time to play will everyone be shouting for "Fragments level 20" groups and I'll not be able to find a group to do level 1? I'm really not sure how this works. I'm a bit confused.

It's better to run it with your guild, you have to complete a specific number of paths before you get the level up. If someone drops group/leaves the dungeon/gets disconnected you have to restart. That's the main problem with PuGs right now. Not that people aren't doing it for certain levels, but that people aren't staying for the entire run and you can't replace them.

The new dungeon has like 9 different mini dungeons that randomly spawn. You can get all of them at the easiest difficulty, but hard core players can keep going higher. A lot of people are just farming the level 1 to get tokens easily anyway.

Some people will be ultra competitive and try to go as far as they can. I just want to see the content once. And even doing it relatively casually I already have 100 of the dungeon currency.

It's not as hard as it sounds, but it's definitely my favorite dungeon in Guild Wars 2, of all the ones I've tried. There are still two I haven't touched yet.
