Thread: Spectacular Finale: Lost Shores <spoiler>

Honestly I got bored and quit halfway through...

I guess it just wasn't for me, but it didn't feel epic at all. We ran into a tunnel, killed a lot of Karka which spawned on top of you or were invisible while it killed you cause of the lag. Then you ran outside, and killed even more Karka. Really, other than tiny random things like shooting a tree instead, you were really just killing the same three enemies over and over and over (really the same enemy over and over, just different sizes). I quit when you had to take out reinforcements the second time. I mean really? That bar filled so slowly, and there was no real challenge.

If people liked this event not sure how Anet could possibly make an event people don't like. All they need to do is just spawn loads of enemies over and over with some thin plot beneath.

Nothing against the game, obviously it's free content so I don't feel let down, I just left. If people liked the event I'm glad, anything to keep more people playing the game is great. Just not my cup of tea I suppose.

Some people like the feel of combat, rather than the challenge of combat. We did this with my guild and as a group, we had a great time. There was a guild of naked rezzers on my server, who would run in and rez downed people without any armor on so they didn't damage their armor, that's all they did. My guild was also big on rezzing and got noticed. People were talkign about us in chat. It was pretty cool.

The point is, just as a solo event, this would have been boring as hell but I did it with guildies, we had the experience and got some great loot at the end. I got The Hunter as one of my rewards, which is a legendary item precursor. Pretty cool, for a couple of hours of hanging out with my guild.

It was a good event excluding the 2 waves of reinforcements. It just dragged on far to long. Killing two champions per wave was just to much, particularly as you had to effectively kill each one twice. The rest as very good fun though, great sense of an epic battle and after a few wipes clearing the hive out it made for a good challenge. Getting relevant loot from a chest was a surprise as well and a nice one at that.

I wasn't impressed. I didn't have any FPS issues even with all of the people but there was very noticeable clipping. I did have a lot of skill lag in high density areas. The events were bugged in my overflow and we got endless waves of spawning champions on a couple of parts which literally wiped everyone but a few of us that were focused on surviving just to rez others. I didn't find the content very "challenging" other than the fact that I'd be randomly downed by mobs I couldn't see in some of the larger fights.

I actually went to the store during one of the reinforcement phases and when I got back they hadn't made much progress, it was a grueling endeavor. lol I didn't get into any of my guildmates overflows since they were full by the time I tried. Maybe that would have made it more fun, but I just found it annoyingly frustrating trying to keep everyone alive and not die myself (only died once yay).

edit: I only say it was bugged on our overflow because the people came in to try to get a second chest kept complaining about how hard it was in comparison to the one they'd already finished. So idk I have nothing other than that to reference.

We had the same problem but kept trying during the battle to switch over and eventually, within a few minutes usually we'd get to the same server. We were probably able to do it because people were disconnecting. Pain for them, profit for us.

If they do it again I might try to get into a tighter group. I feel like with less people there it would have been easier for me, as a Mesmer with a lot of reflect fields and retaliation it was easy to get the Karka to burst themselves down if I could get my timing and placement right. It just sucked trying to squeeze my Temporal Curtain in between the Champ and the fifty not-so-bright individuals trying to melee it from the front.

I did think it was funny when people would run in and then everything would spawn on top of them and just wipe them out in an instant, got a lot of cool screenshots with tons of dead players. lol

Also grats on the precursor Vayne that's pretty darn cool.

I'm happy I participated at the event.

The exploration and securing of the island is fun, but only if there are some more people around but if gives you quite an impression what a group of dedicated adventurers is capable of.

While I was there for most of the explosives setup (some of that time laying on the ground waiting for someone to rez me) I missed the first part of the "get the ancient back to the hive" - I met up with the main group just after the tree fell (did I miss much?).

The parts where some reinforcements had to be fought could have been a bit shorter, but at no time at this stage was I ever bored or even dared to switch to another window at my computer. You really got the intensity of this epic battle.
The "minigames" (like destroying nests and using the rubble to launch it at the ancient) were a nice change from the somewhat monotone "attack karkas, don't try to get hurt too much, look for downed/out players, rez them, ..."

I didn't reach the top in the hive (got swarmed to death by hatchlings - serves me right to be too slow) but luckily on their way down someone got me back in the game).

The final battle was surprisingly short but I felt some kind of achievement when the beast finally got down...
Only to be shocked into "on no, not again..." moment when it resurfaced from the lava as I feared that we had to fight it again... maybe now only with it being hot enough for a fire aura and/or fire resistance...

I needed almost 100 karka kills for the monthly achievement but as there are already "farming groups" in the northern part of the island I got it in under 1 hour this morning with the help of 3 other people I never met before.

But for now I am glad that the island is a level 80 area, so it will take some time till my other characters (highest ones in the 30s) will get there at all.

I guess I should have participated. I got pretty sour on the area before the event cause the drops were lame to non-existent (Orr produces much more) and you die pretty easily. Just not sure I was ready for this level 80 area. There will be others.
