New 80s area - what to do?

    Hi,

so yesterday my wife and I went to the new lvl 80 area, which name eludes me now, to check it out for the first time.
The area seems nicely designed graphicwise and there are some cool new mobs in there, but after nearly an hour of roaming the area we got pretty bored because we only encountered one dynamic event and nothing else to do but grinding mobs.

Thus we went back to Malchor's Leap and there were events whereever we went.

Why is there so little meaningful to do in this new area? We were in an overflow at first so our server's map was full, I guess. Therefore, I guess it doesn't get much better than what we were experiencing regarding the frequency of events.

I'm not a big fan of PVE anyway, but I kind of like the Orr zones with their large amount of events, although the maps are a little too full of mobs. But at least there's always an event popping up somewhere (although a lot of them are still buggy). This new island, however, seems to be as full of mobs but without the amount of events. The wiki page only lists ~7-8 events for that zone if I recall correctly, which does indeed seem to be little. I guess you could just run around and grind mobs, but that's not very fun, although I must admit these veteran karka are fun to battle with a group of two. But mindless grind gets old very quickly to me.

So, anyhow, what are your thoughts on this area?

More events will be added to the map as time goes on. At the moment it was there for the event, but it's by no means finished. They will continue to flesh out that content. That's the beauty of the event system really. Without quest hubs and just running quests, they can keep adding stuff over time, that doesn't affect anything else.

One more thing. If you were on an overflow server, that means the main server was full but that doesn't mean the overflow was. More events spawn with more people, so there may have been events on the main server that you weren't getting on the overflow.

Some events require certain conditions to be met before they spawn.

We were on the overflow at first, but after a few minutes we could switch. So it should have been a full map for most of the time we spent there. This was why I wondered about the lack of events. In lower regions I'm accustomed to lack of events if not enough people are around, because then they obviously don't get triggered that often.

I didn't know that it wasn't finished yet. That would probably explain the lack of things to do.

They said in one of their posts that they were introducing the island for events and it wouldn't have much there at first, but it is a place to grind some stuff for people who want harder content. That's pretty much what this whole patch is about. The better players have finished everything and are complaining that there's nothing to challenge them. These guys hit harder, have different mechanics, so if you want to test yourself, you can go try to solo a champion or something. The rest of us are still running around Orr or Frostgorge Sound, which also has a reasonable number of events and is an end game area.

Ah ok. Haven't really informed myself on the patch yet other than "omg they are introducing a gear treadmill".

The fights are fun there, I give them that. But running around and exploring areas without quests or events is not really for me.

we'll probably find most of those empty map areas being filled over time with new areas and new events are a continuous evolving thing with more being added with major updates...along with new continents for expansions. I'm really curious what xmas will bring as its usually the longest event and all these Nov updates should be settled in.
