web/tech guy looking for a startup guild

Hello,

I'm seeking a mature, fun and casual start up guild (any play style), or can partner up to start a guild.

A little about me:
- 27 yr old casual gamer since the dungeon&dragons/mario/super nintendo days (yes i'm a geek ^^)
- diploma in 3D + degree in interaction/web
- casual gamer with work/life/gym balance in mind
- understand the meaning of "paying it forward"
- knows that life can be rough at times, gw2 for a quick escape from reality
- Started playing GW1 again a few months back (stopped a while back due to work/life) hoping to start fresh again in GW2

Goals:
- to further enhance tech knowledge + understand guild website creation
- to create a gw2 Guild presence to be remembered for ages to come
- I don't have to be leader, just a tech guy
- to enjoy the game for what it is and have fun

First, welcome to the forums! There are a lot of really nice people here and loads of useful information about GW2. Second, awesome application. You didn't "beat around the bush" and went straight to the point. I will of course advertise the guild I am in, Ship Happens. You said you want a guild that will be remembered for ages to come? Well, this guild has already had 3 out of game events. We've met up at a Waffle House, the Ohio Renaissance Festival, and we just finished an all nighter at a restaurant taking a 2lbs spicy cheeseburger challenge and winning t-shirts. We also have a youtube channel where we post a lot of funny GW2 and guild related videos. We have another video finished but it's being edited and that takes a couple of days. And we have a web comic on the way made by the artist Ka-tsu Purajiku. There's more but I think you get the idea. We will be remembered, oh yes, we will be

hello, thanks for the reply, been havin' some odd issues with forum lately, could only see 3 threads, thought this thread got deleted, glad that wasn't the case. Anyways, yer guild sounds pretty neat, is it mainly focused on pirate themes?

Been playin' around w/ some forum softwares, and brainstormed some rough possible site features to base off of, just to get a rough list of possible features to encourage guild uniqueness. Tech wise, gona be fun to tackle I think.

GUILD SITE FEATURES/IDEAS - BRAINSTORM

*Interaction features - member to member*
- popular topics (depends on hits?)
- shoutbox
- live site chat
- guild quest board (inspired by FABLE 3's job board: players can create/accept quests by other members, example: run me to Charr homelands)
- event calendar? (player or guild organized events)

*Interaction features - officer driven* - need moderation
- latest news banner scroll on front page (updated content)
- guild mission job board (scheduled collaborations? Chained with guild hall achievements)
- latest guild news

*Content Submission features - everyone*
- war journals (tactics/ingame stories: "Siege of Ebon Hawke tactics" for example)
- fanart section?
- screenshots/funnies?
- user submission (gallery/videos)
- player "character" profiles (rp?)

*Social activity encouragement features*
- comments system (for news etc.)
- weekly poll/vote system (democratic nominated topics/votes?)
- guild bank (member exclusive, donated by members, for members)
- forum (latest forum topics)


GUILD SITE ROLES IDEAS - BRAINSTORM

*Possible roles: can be elected/voted (if guild gets too big, hopefully no politics)*
- Guild Master: leader, decisions balanced by council
- Guild Council (Decurion): nominated/electable, part decision makers for good of guild
- Officers (centurion)
- Members (legion)
- Guild bank/Treasurer (hopefully guild bank feature is in game)
- Blacksmith/Keeper of arms
(8 prof and 5 races, bound to be alot of item variety)

Those are really good ideas. Most of them we already have on our web site but some of those we don't. I hope you don't mind but I'm going to take those ideas to add them to our site.

We are pirate based but we want everyone to have a chance to have fun with us, so we let pretty much every sort of character in, pirate or not.

There is a short application on our guild web site which if answered with non-creeper questions will grant you access to our guild forums. Then there's a 2 week trial period where guild members talk to you, get to know you, just to make sure you're not as I said before a creeper or drama queen. So it's a strict but easy process.

A lot of us tried GW1 all at the same time but we didn't like it. We love the art and storyline but GW1 is an acquired taste. GW2 on the other hand we know for demos and other forms of research, we are going to love that game
