official forums overrun with complainers about grind

just got done browsing the official forums and let me say wow. People left and right complaining about the ascended gear and how GW2 wasnt going to be a gear grind and this is a WoW clone. couldn't make it through any of the topics without a ton of Anet hate being thrown around. Players do realize that you have to work for good gear right? I didnt log in today hoping to see legendary skins in my mailbox from Anet. Not sure where all the hate is coming from, but I understand the need for new content and new things players have to work for.

Honestly it would be fine if the means to obtaining the gear was not blocked to people that do not belong to a "top end" guild.

I have no problem what so ever with the grind if the content is fun however being only on fractals level 3 means I will have a very tough time EVER getting groups now to obtain the points or whatever needed to get the gear. Fact is even if I join a guild.. that would have a 80 ranger...they will likely all be well beyond level 3 fractuals.

So the problem was how the content was implemented which either shows poor decision making on Anet's part or simple incompetence.

I spent 3 hours LFG last night.. no fractual group... :-(

Too many people don't realize that it doesn't really matter what level your fractal is, as the dungeon scales to the average of the party. As long as you complete that set of 3 you're fine. They also don't realize that any lvl can jump into the fractal. Not every lvl can hold their own, and lower lvls can prolly only do it for a short while, but you don't need to be lvl 80 like the general population believes.

No, going to have to blame Anet, I respectfully disagree with you. Example: If people want level 4 fractals and your only level 3, you can't get in with them. Its a fact. This will be a big problem for the future when all that's left playing are the folks that either don't care that they can't get to content that want to or did find an elite guild.

You realize this thinking on a massive scale is what really limited EQ2.

The only reason WoW got away with it was because the game had so many players already playing, mostly EQ refugees at the time and new players. People just grew into WoW.

GW2 does not have this chance. They need to address this issue now.

Can you link something saying that? Because I thought I had read (not played) that the content scales DOWN so if you're a lvl 5, and join lvl 3's you do a lvl 3 dungeon. And you (the lvl 5 guy) can not advance to lvl 6 unless you're in a group with lvl 5's. If this is right, thats a bad design.

Difficulty Scale

The difficulty scale increases the difficulty and rewards for the dungeon. Every time a cycle is completed, the scale goes up by one point. Players entering the dungeon may choose any difficulty level from 1 up to the highest common difficulty level in the group. As the difficulty increases, enemies are more difficult and more mobs will spawn.[5] The difficulty levels you gain are restricted to the character you gain them on. There is no weekly reset of a character's earned difficulty level unlock. [6]

Level 10: Bosses begin to inflict Agony. Glob of Coagulated Mist Essence begins to drop.
Level 11: Rings begin to drop from bonus chests.
Level 21: Infused rings begin to drop from bonus chests (ring with +5 agony resistance).
