Still (role)playing.
Still (role)playing.
With all the negative reviews they have gotten over the past week they are less likely to draw in new customers.
The more the population that's already there dwindles the less other people will want to play. Not to mention it hurts the cash shop.
I wish I could say I have gotten my money's worth out of the game like others have but I bought a bunch of extra character slots because I planned on playing this game for years. Having all these low level characters makes me feel cheated.
The negative publicity this game got will affect a very small percentage of people. It's still a one time buy, no monthly fee game that's not pay to win. Other MMOs still totally suck. A few disenfranchised people won't stop people from buying the game if they watch videos and like it.
Some people believe everything they read on the net, some people don't. Those who don't won't be affected as much and those who do still have both kinds of reviews to read, positive and negative.
A small percentage of people have gone wildly on the aggressive about this, prematurely in my view, but it's not going to stop sales, because if you don't like MoP, there ain't much else out there. Rift, TSW, maybe. A few of the free to play games, most of which are p2w.
Probably if there was an awesome alternative, if SWToR's free to play model wasn't like pay to walk (they charge for everything), Guild Wars 2 would be in a world of trouble right now. But you know, there's not much out till Bethesda releases their MMO, unless you were already a WoW fan.
Not as much as release to be sure, but the same statement holds water with any MMO release, let alone any game release....ever.It's consistently evolving and gaming, much like music, food, movies....well everything I guess has become vastly more disposable.
The thing I noticed with GW1 was it's population and popularity fluctuated a lot more than other games but that's a comment based more or less on the resulting effects of being a non-subscription game, for what I assume are obvious reasons. In Gw1, several weeks/months/years after release, there was often influxes of population and activity in-game and then periods of looking at tumbleweeds (hence the heroes and henchies imho). That's how non-subscription works....you have down time because players have no actual window of time or pressure, based on financial cost, to play after initial purchase. They just play when they want to and consequently are free to walk away for a few weeks to play what ever other game is out.
As such I have noticed a decrease in player numbers but that was noticed a few weeks ago.I have not had the game time to comment on how events have effected this recently.
As for CoD....I played it back when it was an awesome WW2 shooter but lost touch once it went online.I always played Battlefield for that kind of buzz, subjective opinion obviously...not looking at a FPSvsFPS war thx..I'm sure the sales of any latest CoD game will effect any other online game out there.
That's just basic statistics and gaming history.
"If your having adventurer problems I feel bad for you son, I dodged 99 arrows till my knee took one"
You assume people already know a lot about this game. everyone that's into mmo's knows how many of then are pay to win so if you see a game that looks interesting, odds are you will do a little research to make sure that it's not some crappy P2W garbage.
If I didn't know anything about gw2 just the fact that there is no subscription fee would make me think it's probably P2W and I would check out forums and consumer reviews.
Maybe things are better in australia but I don't know anyone that would throw down 60$ on a game they know nothing about.
I'm still playing daily, but i will say that i am bored at end game right now as i see nothing left to do but grind legendary mats. So i began leveling my alt mesmer and i'll probably continue to level alts until i feel im just burned out.
WvW kinda lost its flavor for me as it's not really fun just zerging down or being zerged down. (im on Stormbluff, so I have been spoiled with winning a lot)
I still have yet to break into the sPvP brackets as i just haven't found the sweet spot on my engi to be effective. (based on WvW trials)
While i have only ran FotM once it was fun, but i can't see myself really getting to deep into for the armor stats. I just don't really care about them that much.
Im at 97% map completion and am just waiting for WvW map portions to be available so i can get 100%. i have yet to do all the jumping puzzles, but i think ill get around to those when I really get burned out.
It's a shame that people just keep finding ways to play, and they always have to do something that in some way is repetitive to find enjoyment, i wish, i and many others could just play this game for enjoyment in whatever i do instead of almost forcing myself to play. It's free to play (not including the 60 quid) so you can play when you feel like it, which is good of course but with the huge build up to the game i expected to be playing it so much, i feel that people are let down from the build up, and are just filtering out of the game. Also having the lost shores event inviting new players to experience guild wars 2 at that time, not only was a huge mistake because they lost players in general because of the let down of the event, but also lost most chances of gaining any new players, because that's not an experience you want to face in your first time in a game.
The things i love are finding awesome Armour sets for my characters from dungeons, watching videos for example by woodenpotatoes who talks in depth about the lore and things which could happen in the future of the game. The fractals are really interesting, especially the colossus part, i really enjoyed freeing it, going back to woodenpotatoes videos and learning more about the event. I enjoy new content and jumping puzzles, i enjoy most large scale events like Halloween but i didn't particularly enjoy the lost shores, although the new island and things you can do on the island are awesome but the initial event could have been handled better.
The thing is though i don't really want to be looking for things that the game can do in the future, i want to be enjoying myself in the present while playing the game, and not being let down when a new world changing event comes along and is disappointing when it could be so much more. It's like what everyone was doing while waiting for guild wars to be released -waiting for a game, they think will be the best game of the year and being disappointing down the line (end game and longevity). It's what a lot of people are doing now, waiting for a new world changing event or something that will just change the game, and just being disappointed when it actually comes.
I do love this game, the visuals, the art, the combat style, the story and lore and will continue to play it on and off, i know there are a lot of people out there who still play this game and enjoy it hugely. I just hope things will get better, Arenanet are a great company and im sure this game will have a break through soon enough, because in all honesty it deserves it.
I am currently only role playing. I can do that forever. I am quite content to do that and wait for AN to get the bugs fixed, play balance issues addressed and hopefully role playing features added.

The world is full of pain and sorrow.
Life is fleeting and true moments of joy are few and far between.
Happiness is laced with shards of pain.
I can agree with this, but as a medium armor wearer, i have to agree with another person on the forums who said "Our choices are long coat, or long coat." While i do think long coats look great, i would like more flavors to choose from. (Perhaps an ammo vest or bandoliers so i can show off my "man cat chest" lol) Also i have givin 3 of my toons there own backstories. 2 i have written out on my guild site, but i won't share here as 1.) the grammatical errors would make most peoples eyes bleed. 2.) Bc as much as i like them i know they are not good. Entertaining at best. So my look for my toons is critical for me.The things i love are finding awesome Armour sets for my characters from dungeons
Learning the lore could be a good, but im terrible at history as i was never interested in it. Plus I created my own personal histories for my toons.
Agreed. 100%I do love this game, the visuals, the art, the combat style, the story and lore and will continue to play it on and off, i know there are a lot of people out there who still play this game and enjoy it hugely. So what do people actually want added to give them a reason to play?
More quality dungeons? More areas to explore? Would adding new skins for weapons/armor really make you want to play for another month?
Many say WvW has lost its edge, what could be done to improve upon it?
Just curious what some suggestions are to increase the longevity of the game.
