"Chaotic nature" from the perspective of the guy serving you translates to "annoying asshole".

For typos and poor grammar, blame my iphone.

Perhaps, perhaps not. I am always polite and charming and I never approach anyone who is actually working, only people who are standing around twiddling their thumbs. And I leave them with a story about a crazy, busty lady to amuse their co-workers with.

Wow... the writer of this article makes a LOT of assumptions. Most of this is based not on facts, but on a lot of guessing and giant leaps.

He/she lost all credibility with me with the statement that "the game has become a pay-to-win scheme". That just made me laugh.

The "article" seems like it is written from the standpoint of "a butt-hurt ex-fanboy" and doesn't even come close to resembling true journalism.

Usually they just don't know how to react.

Also, yeah. That made me laugh too. Haha.

Don't you just hate walking into an Italian restaurant and seeing people eating Italian food since they're so conditioned to ordering Italian styled food at Italian restaurants that Italian food is the only food available at said restaurants?
Except that Italian food has existed for thousands of years and this trend in the MMO genre has existed for 7 and it's all pretty much trying to captilize on the success of one game. It's a lousy analogy.

It would be more like don't you hate when every single restaurant in the entire world all serves Italian food and you like chinese food. No matter where you go, no matter what else is on the menu, it's predominantly Italian food. And finally someone opens up a chinese restaurant and the people who are dying for chinese all rush in there...and then the company, seeing it needs more business, also starts offering some Italian food, because so many families have one guy in it who likes/wants chinese, but everyone else wants at least an Italian food option.

It's not like there were a million options for MMO players and Guild Wars 2 is yet another. It's more like every MMO was some variation on the WoW theme, and MMO players had to settle.

Whaaaatt!? 7 years? It's been longer than that. Waaaaayyy longer. No wonder you think everything's been "conditioned".

It hasn't been longer for me though, because I didn't get into MMOs before that. I can only talk about my experience in this. I can't very well talk about yours. For the last 7 years what I've experienced is all variations on the same thing. I want a new theme.

Why do you think so many people are pissed off at the new changes? Because it's a half step to being like WoW and most people here don't want that. I mean REALLY don't want that. I don't want it either. I simply don't believe Anet is going that way.

I think Anet is doing what it has to do keep building the rest of the world the way they want.

Actually I thought he was making a really good point there, and pointing out the fact that 7 years is inaccurate is really a distraction. If its 7 years or 20 years what he's saying still makes sense.

    Hah, okay.

I think it goes without saying that this is how games evolve. They take small steps towards change, but always pull what works from other titles. WoW pulled what worked from previous titles, like it or not, GW2 is doing the same. That's just how it happens. It's give and take.

I'm definitely not afraid of GW2 turning into WoW. At least not yet. I think it's waayy to early to tell whats going to happen. ArenaNet is allowing for far too much speculation on both ends of the spectrum and that is hurting this game more than a silly stat increase. At least currently.

They need to just come clean and tell us everything they're planning with the new gear type.

MMOs have been around much longer then 7 years. If you count UO its more like 15+ years.. If you start the clock with AC and EQ1 then 13+ years.

As for most games being WoW clones, the only truly triving MMO (in North Americs) is WoW currently. Sure you can say LOTRO, EQ2, and various other games with small communities are doing "well" but they are really not. Seems like new MMOS have big launches and do well for about 3 - 6 months then fail horribly. I had high hopes for SWTOR and before then Connan, and even for LOTRO and RIFT.. they all failed to delight and were grindy crappy experiences. Sure they all have followings but their communities were as bad as their gameplay and overall experiences.

I played WoW, I played the end game, and I quit and came back numerous times. I put around 4.5 to 5 full years into that game and its one reason my first marriage failed.. the other reason is EQ1 (and the fact my ex was just evil..).

Now GW2 comes in and has at least different playstyle. The problems I have with the game:
    - The developer is even more harsh with their playerbase's feedback then SoE was.
    - Anet claims to be getting rid of "needed" classes for groups to work but warriors and Guardians are in major demand for all sorts of groups while the rest of the classes are simply underpowered to some degree in comparrison. With Rangers and Eles on the worse end of it. Without a warrior or/and a Guardian a Dungeon or Fractual will fail.
    - Once again tradeskills are stupidly expensive to level.. like other games of the same genre. Actually much worse then WoW.
    - The only real pet class gets nerfed.. Rangers.. again following the same behavior of other MMOs.

As for GW2, its a great experience to play a different game. The problem is that poor class balance and a cash shop centric game may not translate to = best for the customer. If having to play 2 classes to have the most fun = fun.. /shrug.. dosen't for me.

I'm still giving it time tough.. another month.

    Time will tell.
