    Dear Professor Millington,

Thank you for your letter of March 16. After careful consideration, I
regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me
an assistant professor position in your department.

This year I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an unusually
large number of rejection letters. With such a varied and promising field
of candidates, it is impossible for me to accept all refusals.

Despite Whitson's outstanding qualifications and previous experience in
rejecting applicants, I find that your rejection does not meet my needs at
this time. Therefore, I will assume the position of assistant professor
in your department this August. I look forward to seeing you then.

Best of luck in rejecting future applicants.

    Sincerely,
    Chris L. Jensen

Okay. Seriously. Why are you playing MMO's? The "RPG" attached to the end of that, means gear is going to have stats. And the "MMO" means stats are going to get better as new content is released.

I get it, they said some things and now they're not doing them. How is you raging over it going change anything? Deal with it, or move on. If you want to quit because of this, quit. If you want to keep playing the game, keep playing. Complaining about it here, does nothing. Which was the point of my post.

    Geez.

I cant believe this post was so bad I had to respond from home and not work. MMO does NOT mean you have to have stats that increase as content comes out. Please show me where thats in the definition and a required part of an MMO. Im pretty sure MMOs mean massive multiplayer online game...not massive stat increase game. The ONLY requirement of an mmo is that it be a game, thats massive and online. See how that works? Its right in the title. All those other things that it "must" have are things that most of them have had but in no way shape or form does that mean that they always must have that. That logic is beyond faulty, its really not logic at all

Now Im just addressing your very poor analytical skills and not ascended gear in particular as I have no said multiple times in different threads that I am done talking about it. You're right, me talking about it wont change anything. So I'm not. So why are you responding to me and asking me qustions...that I obv will want to respond to if you dont want me talking about it. More poorly thought out moves.

Sorry Fey, you failed today. Now please, no need to continue the ascended gear discussion with me personally, I'm done with it.

MMO means that stats pretty much aren't in the mix. RPG however, means something else, and these games we're talking about are MMORPGs. Most people would have understood the reference, and made the great deductive leap that Fey wasn't actually talking about MMOFPS or any other type of MMO.

The fact is, I actually object to the way the industry has destroyed the original definition of RPG, which simply meant role-playing game. A game in which you played a role. To me, Tombraider would have been a role-playing game, in which you play the role of Lara Croft. Unfortunately, the moniker has come to mean stat progression for quite a long time.

RPGs are in fact differentiated from adventure games now by stat progression and have been for as long as I can remember. Since I managed the computer store in Brooklyn, well over a decade ago.

Since this is an mmoRPG, one would expect stats to play some sort of role and for stat progression to be present in the game. Because this is a game you don't just play and finish, that is, two weeks or three weeks and you're onto the next game, SOME people seem to want more stat progression than others. I'm actually not one of those people. I really wish people would just be satisfied with cosmetic rewards. It would make everything so much simpler.

The problem is, people aren't. Too many people. People don't play for fun. Even Centaur said there's nothing to do and no reason to go back, because he's looking at rewards instead of having fun. When I go back I have fun, which is all I really care about. The rewards will come when they come. I'm not in any particular rush. I'm going to be playing this game for a long time. So the rush for rewards isn't crucial to me, so I still visit whatever area I feel like visiting at any given time, often to help a guildie, or level an alt, but even with my 80s, I go back sometimes.

The thing is, this generation of MMO players have played games where pretty much gear progression is the norm, so not having it seems like they're missing something. Sucks, but that's the problem with having every single game emulating one popular game. People look for what's missing that they used to have.

So pretty much anyone coming from any MMO besides Guild Wars 1 (which is arguably not a true MMO anyway), is going to look for that stat increase, except for a very small pool of players. Most of the players who have jumped on the down with Anet bandwagon are in fact Guild Wars 1 players, but there are still plenty of us supporting the game, if my guild is any indication.

This has split the Guild Wars 1 community, but it hasn't really done a huge amount of damage to the community of people coming from other games.

It wasn't meant to be taken literally, even though you have it seems you have trouble reading. You get what you buy. Even if they hadn't introduced higher stats with the new gear type, when expansions come out and level caps are raised, it would happen anyway. Don't be an idiot.

Idiot? Really...am I getting to you Fey? Someobdy needs 50 cc's of hugs, STAT!

I'm pointing out your LOGICAL failures. I said that VERY VERY clearly in my post. I know what the state of games are and why people THINK that MMO(rpgs) MUST have stat progression - because they always have. But as I explained, just because something has always had an aspect to it, doesnt mean it always will or has to. Role playing were played with pen and paper, till they weren't. By your logic, since up to a certain point, RPG's were played on paper, they WILL AND MUST always be played that way. It's evolved, and it certainly can evolve to have no gear stat progression. So your LOGIC is faulty. You keep misisng the point, while I'm fully aware WHY you think the way you do, I'm not missing it for a sec.
