    Change in loot parameters or a bug?

    https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/foru...g-Merged/first

    I am very concerned about the change in loot parameters since the event patch. It seems to me and I’m not the only one that the quality and frequency of loot in open world events has been turned down substantially.
    As an example, I did several champions and a dozen events over a 3 hour period and the best piece of loot I received was a green torch with the vast majority being white junk items and a couple blues. Two of the champions failed to drop any loot at all which is completely opposite of the patch notes;
    “The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased. Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot. This was to ensure that world loot drops were not a significantly worse way of acquiring rare and exotic items than crafting and running dungeons.”

    Perhaps it was an unintentional side effect to the adjustments made regardless this is my main concern;

    One of the main reasons for my wife and I gleefully jumped into GW2 was because of the freedom which allowed us to play together and tackle a vast majority of content as a duo. The game offered this on virtually all fronts, from making money, crafting and gearing our characters to leveling together all the while remaining competitive.
    The current change in loot distribution either purposely or accidentally seems to force us into having to group to do dungeons in order to accomplish these various goals and goes against the very principle of the game’s design and our play style. If we wanted to be pigeon holed into having to run dungeons to be successful we would have stayed with WoW, Rift or every other MMO out there because that is their core design.

    This for the most part even goes directly against the comments made by Chris Whiteside’s latest response to the addition of ascended gear as quoted below;

    “Ascended and infusion rewards will be available in both PvE and WvW over time, and be made available through all sorts of content around the world including existing content. As you know we care very much about your support and opinion and are listening intently to what you say.
    Finally we look forward to hearing your thoughts on the upcoming content, and we will ensure we share our thoughts with you on the experiences we share in the Lost Shores."
    Chris Whiteside – Studio Design Director”

    In the end I guess my question really boils down to this;
    Is the downgrading in open world loot whether intended or accidental going to be re-adjusted so those of us who prefer open world content either solo duo or in whatever fashion can continue to remain competitive?

    ----------------------------------------------------

    This is a topic very interesting, many people are having the same results and in contradiction to what was said on Monday ANET is ignoring the request from players for an answer, seems like they are forcing everyone to do Fractals.

    From the recent AMA:

    Vet and Champs should give good loot and there are a number of reports on perceived decrease in the frequency of drops. I will be discussing this in depth with the Production and Design team tomorrow and we will hopefully have more info soon
    The drops in fractals are amazing compared to the rest of the game though.

    If this is your style of play, exactly who or what do you need to keep up with to remain competitive?

    I don't know if there's been a mistake in the update but i would say i would rather the drop rates did not remain stagnant and like the idea of loot scaling and anti-farm code. I've always enjoyed the farming aspect but can't stay in one spot indefinitely so like being given an incentive to move on and find something else to do/farm, it helps me learn the mechanics as a whole...not because they've dropped the rate in one area and increased it in another to push is that direction though as that just doesn't work with me, i like being a free spirit!

    Thge problem with the loot variation is that right now, loot is almost moot, nothing, yesterday I spent like an hour in Orr and the best I got was 1 green level 78, the rest were white trash and like 2 blues, that is now what loot should be, specially in an area like Orr.

    One of my guildies was in Orr just now, and he got all the drops you missed. 3 golds and an exotic in under 20 minutes. Maybe today's patch was a fix?

    Doesn't it depend on your Magic Find % as well? I had a HORRIBLE time finding rares of any sort until I equipped the Superior Pirate Rune which gives me 50% magic find. Each one of my accessories gives me 6% Magic Find as well which comes out to 36% + 50% = 86% total. And then I add an Omnomberry Bar for 30% more for 116% total. (and then my sigil for my short bow adds 0.6% for each enemy I kill up to 25 kills so 0.6%-15% more). Also that Omnomberry bar gives me 40% more gold from enemies. Ever since I started doing this, Ive been finding a good drop of rares at least and have been making more than a gold an hour in Fractals. I've gotten a good number of exotics from the Mad King mini-dungeon as well as from the Lost Shores event but nothing from any other dungeons or Fractals yet. At anyrate, I have no idea how magic find would play into this subject as I do not know how the calculations technically work but I, personally, have definitely seen a difference since equipping this stuff!

    Yep magic find can help a lot, particularly if you can get it up around the 100% rate, effectively doubling your chance for a drop. Keep in mind you also get bonus drops if you're in a group, less drops if you're soloing. There's even a statement I read somewhere that if you're in a group with guildies you get even more. That certainly works for influence gain, but I've been told it works for drops as well.

    Last night, I was working towards map completion and worked on Caledon Forest. After I completed my map, I returned to Lion's Arch and checked my inventory. I noticed I had an Unidentified Dye and wondered when I got that because I never remembered picking it up at all during my travels last night. I doubled-clicked it aaand.......

    ABYSS DYE!!!

    No idea if magic find influences the rarity of dye pulls but dang. Its going for 17 gold on the market right now so I might sell it and get myself a nice set of exotic gear with it.

    Congratulations! I noticed that globs of ecto were almost 40Silver last night. If anet is really going to reduce that amount needed for ascended gear, soon would be the time to cash those in before they drop back to normal insane prices.
