I was no big fan of GW1 myself (I also found it pretty boring, because I knew nobody who played it and found the story too uninteresting to catch me for a playthrough. I think I didn't even get to maxlvl) and I've been getting disenchanted with GW2 for some time now. Haven't played in a week or more, now. But to me it's not because of too little things to do. There are plenty of things I could do in the game, that I haven't done (like map completion (have around 40%ish, or doing all the dungeons (have done two), or whatever). But the question is whether you care for these things or not. I care for none of the two things I've mentioned, therefore I won't engage in them.
To me the question whether I have fun in an MMO basically boils down to 1 factor: Do any RL friends of mine play it. And, sadly, almost all of them have quit GW2 after two weeks because they found it boring. I know, Vayne will now come up and advise me to get a guild and I would agree with him. But then again, I find online-acquaintances mostly too tedious to bother with and am generally not a person that likes to socialise with strangers. And I'll just counter the upcoming question why I would play an MMO if I don't care for the social part of it by restating that I play it to play with my friends and basically to kill other players. PVE is not my cup of tea. I normally don't even touch the PVE part in a game that has the option to kill others online
But there is little wrong with the game itself. Of course, I have trouble getting into the story again. The GW type of story is a bit too archetypical stalwart hero-like. I like more multidimensional characters in stories and GW doesn't deliver that for me. But the WvW was generally great fun. The game has most things you'd expect from an MMO, but I never felt so drawn to it as I was drawn to WoW in its early years, or to SWToR in the first two months or so. It definitely lacks something (After all, most of my friends left quite early, therefore they must've found something lacking too) and I can't quite put my finger to it.
But maybe I'll manage to get back into the game someday in the future. I'll try
