Yep. That's why a lot of people ended up buying Guild Wars 1...to unlock cool skins for Guild Wars 2. Just in our guild alone we had easily a dozen guys who bought the game just to get those things unlocked. I ran so many people through all three games, it wasn't funny. For a while I was running people all day every day, just to get everyone in before Guild Wars 2 came out, because I knew that once it did come out, most of those people were never going to go back to Guild Wars 1. And you know, as much as you loved it, Guild Wars 1 is an acquired taste for a lot of people. It's very slow going, particularly if you start in Prophecies.
PvP, of course, is a different issue, but on the PVe side, which is what you had to do to get those points, it was very hard for people to get into. A lot of people, after playing a couple of months, began to see the value, but a couple of months is a long time to have someone play a game to see value.
I can name five, six guys right offhand from our guild who saw Guild Wars 1 as something they had to tolerate to get what they wanted, rather than a fun game in its own right.
