Thread: How long would this take?

  1. #11
I started a new toon just to test this theory and doing it in 1-3 hours a day. He is now level 26 I have explored all the main cities and 3 of the 5 starting areas in 1 week (of 1-3 hours play so around 20 hours play) So a month maybe the right time, maybe a little bit more if you take in account WvW areas, I tried to explore 1 in one of my 80 toon and I got zerged badly.
Jhn 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

I was lvl 80 and about 90% after 10 days of release playing solo, so about a month of normal play sounds about right. If you want quicker you wanna find a buddy or two to zerg your way through maps. Unless your an avid WvW'er that is ofcourse the trickiest. Best bet for WvW is probably gonna be to check out your servers forum to keep track of organised events and jump on the bandwagon there.

As for 'does it matter', well yes and no. No one cares and there are lots who will always be well infront of you so your not gonna be impressing anyone but yourself, and by rushing you WILL miss lots of the game enroute...but
    a. map completions give nifty rewards
    b. its handy to have all waypoints unlocked for w/e you need to jump somewhere at a whim.
    c. Its handy to have the karma vendors unlocked to get your hands on their recipes and cooking mats
    d. Its handy to have the karma vendors unlocked to use as merchants

I was just answering the question with a different mindset is all and was nice about it. I am not so worldly about this game as you so sarcastically try to point out so why attack me for a different view point. Tell him he can Finish the world map in 2,2 seconds I care not you are not playing for him and cant foretell his future.

I have yet to get my 100% map completion (I think I'm around 55-60%?) and I hit 80 with my first prof about 6 days after release of the headstart. I had not planned on getting a legendary. I figured, after seeing some of what was needed, that it would take a normal (work, wife, social life, non-cheating, non-exploiting) gamer 6mo or so to get it and it just wasn't worth it to me for the "look". Now that they are always best-in-slot... I have been considering starting the grind and have begin to save up some of the rares.

UG, I really hate grinds and also trying to find that last POI and scouring my map with it zoomed in and alt-tabbed to some zone map on google (THIS happens to me on EVERY freaking map!).

On a side note to your side note...
Anyone know/read what they plan to do if you transfered the skin of your Legendary over to another weapon for the stats when they "upgrade" your Legendary with the new "best-in-slot" stats? Seems like it is going to be a hassle or you will have to get a "best-in-slot" ascended weapon with the stats you want anyway?

If you had taken the time to read the posts before your irrelevant reply you would have seen he is working towards his legendary to keep himself out of the gear creep.

Bokiz prefers WvW to pve so he wants to be done with it as quick as possible so he can play what he enjoys.

Not everyone reads every post on a forum though. You guys act like it's normal for people to read everything before replying and that's just not what most people do. Sure, Chiria didn't read all the posts. I wasn't aware it was a capital crime. I wasn't aware it was a crime at all.

So someone replied to the OP, the OP said something, this doesn't really need to be a group let's beat up on the guy who didn't read the thread activity. It's surely not encouraging to people who don't post often to keep posting.

And as much as I love you guys I, for one, wouldn't mind seeing some new faces posting regularly.

I don't expect everyone to read the entire thread' but if it's less than one page long by the time you're replying, I'm less inclined to cut you some slack. And my post back to him was made in a joking manner anyway. I also love when new people post; but I'd like to encourage them to read at least the first page to make sure they understand the topic at hand. I should have clarified WHY I was rushing in the OP rather than a few posts later, but I wasnt asking for commentary on why I'm doing it anyway, just an approximation of time and some tips.

I did a little PVE last night, I wanted to shoot myself in the face...so I went WvW. I just don't see me getting a legendary ever I guess so I will just do the grindy grind and get ascended gear, then descended gear, and whatever gear that comes down the pipeline while I;m still playing the game. Jut wait till its available in WvW I guess.

This. I personally find it condescending that any time someone asks about something like this people jump all over them for rushing through content. No one asked for your opinion. If you don't have an answer to the question you have no reason to post.

I feel like we'd get a lot more new posters if we could keep a thread on topic and actually answer it without polluting it with stale opinions and hypocrisy. I really don't care if you play the game a different way than I do.

Expressing an opinion isn't necessarily condescending. It depends completely on how the opinion is expressed. That said, there's plenty on this forum that doesn't stay on topic, including your post. It's not on topic. We're having a discussion.

And there are gentler ways to get new people to read all those posts than just being sarcastic at them. Sure it's fun for you, but you'll drive off more people that way than you'll encourage. I see this in games all the time with the PvP crowd. They make it really hard for anyone to join in, and then they wonder why they don't have new people to play against.

It would have been so easy for anyone here to say, nicely, "actually this question was answered in subsequent posts, even though it wasn't in the OP. You'd be better off reading more of the posts before commenting in the future."

But people would rather be sarcastic and drive other people off, and then defend the sarcasm. Well, okay. So many good solid forum members who love the game have stopped posting here already...might as well drive the new blood out too.

Then we can all be sarcastic to each other, and no one will care.

We're having a "discussion" because you derailed the thread. After rereading, yes I was sarcastic and I apologize. Even at my age I don't have the greatest social skills and I'll admit that.. but at least I made an attempt to actually answer the OP.

You can say I'm having fun being sarcastic all you want, but try and understand that it isn't fun for me to see posts like these. I'm really tired of constantly having opinions crammed down my throat on these forums. I'm tired of watching people condescend to everyone and tell them they're playing the game wrong. He even called you out to make an argument against rushing to get completion. How is that constructive to the topic at all?

Hell, how is this "discussion" constructive at all?

You talk about attracting new posters but this is the reason I rarely post on these forums (and the reason some have given for leaving them).
