    Buh bye!

I've thoroughly enjoyed the stay on this forum. Thanks to JohnnyV, Centaur, Vayne and the other mods for making this one heck of a cosy place to stay. Alas, as the game has not lived up to my expectations, I've gone back to where I belong. In a sense, all the hundreds of little arguments I've had on this very forum have shown me the value of things I've left behind and that I'm thoroughly through with people that irrational hate on a game.

I'm not only missing the proper mechanics but also, and to a far larger extent, the proper teamplay that is required in real endgame content. Do I grind myself up to standards? Not really, essential things take less than 30 mins for me per day. That's about as long as I need to decide what to do in GW2 for the lack of goals. And small talking theorycraft feels comfortable again. Nobody in sight to tell me how wrong it is to have a properly tuned setup for your char.

Grilled an applicant today, too. Feels just like old times. Except that I have to get used to paying attention to more than 2 boss abilities again. But I'll get there, it's just like riding a bicycle.

I'm sure many of you won't miss me, but I thought since this is a pretty solid decision by now, I might as well make it proper, just in case someone was wondering.

I'll probably check in on this thread again at some point in the future, so leave me a message here if you like. Or PM. Or ignore this, it's up to you and I won't be hurt. Have fun guys, I really hope the game works for you in the future if it doesn't already now.

    See ya!

P.S.: And I managed to write this without saying WoW once... uh, damnit! :P

Well, the game certainly isn't for everyone. WoW isn't either. You like it better, go play it. Problem solved.

I don't enjoy WoW all that much at all, and still fault it for much of what I find wrong with MMOs today. I still think it's more addictive than fun for most people. or that people simply buy what their friends buy and then stay there because they don't bother to research anything else.

Obviously a percentage of people really do like it, but it's not a good enough game in my opinion to have the population it has. It did, however, have a good start from being a follow on to the Warcraft series and Blizzard had a ton of advertising dollars to pour once that happens, if it's addictive to some people it will have a large population. I still can't stand the game and wish it had never become popular.

For you personally, I have no problems at all, and wish you all the best. I disagree with your conclusions, but you certainly have a right to dislike any game you choose, for any reason you choose.

As for proper mechanics, and that sort of thing, well, I laugh at that. I find the mechanics of Guild Wars 2 to be better than those of games where you know stuff because any one can tell you what build is best because of numbers. I'd much rather see a game where no one really knows sand everything keeps trying things and people end up with builds that are fun, instead of builds that people require them to have to clear content. In fact, that's one thing about WoW that I hate more than anything else. Run one of these builds or a variation or don't play with us. Okay. I'm not playing with you.

Anyway, have fun and enjoy yourself. That's what gaming is supposed to be about.

Well I certainly harbor no negative feeling towards people that play WoW, it's just a gameplay choice. It's not wrong or right, it's what makes you happy. If you have more fun in WoW and were disappointed with GW2, then by all means. It's not for me or anyone here to decide how you should have fun.

I know a lot of us care about Guild Wars 2 very passionately and sometimes that might come off as a hatred for all other MMOs, but I think it's more of a distaste for other MMOs after being constantly let down by them. We just want something new and different, which is why we turned to Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2 in the first place. We're tired of level grinding and only being able to groups based on our class and build.

Anyway, I know you've thought a lot about it and gave Guild Wars 2 a hell of a shot. I wish you well in the future Lagger, and I'm sure we'll see you around.

I harbor no negative feelings toward people who play WoW either. I reserve my negative feelings for the designers of the game, and the greedy corporate idiots who kept trying to copy its success.

My niece was a CoH fanatic. She played it for years. She had more characters than I have hair on my head...oh wait!

Anyway she was pretty gutted when they closed it down.
