So did you play your 2nd Character Different??

After I got my First Character to Level 80, then started My 2nd one, I decided to try something new. I rushed my First one to fast. Missed to many Vista's and Skill Points. My objective, get most the way points, get to 80, Use it to farm.

Big mistake. So this round, I am Hitting all the Vista's, getting all the way points, taking my time, enjoying it more. Still not worried about 100 percent completion.

So do or are you playing your 2nd toon any different than the first one??

I'm actually working on 100% completion on my first, but turned off all the map icons for zone completion on my second. I don't want a list of things to do. I'm seeing how much I can find by just exploring. Far more time consuming but I find some really really cool stuff in zones I didn't see the first time through.

Actually I have a number of characters I'm doing this with. My main is up to 72% world completion.

I played my first character like Vayne with no map icon and never using scouts or waypoints. All my other ones I just rush to level 15 and start doing DEs to 80 and then I play with them normally (but with traits). lol So I'm kinda going the other way with it.

I played my first toon to 80 by exploring. 95% completion right now, just frostgorge sound (i think thats the name lol) left and some dungeons I haven't done. I would do all the starter zones then the next lvl and the next lvl. I think I hit 80 at around 60% completion.

My 2nd lvl 80 is my thief, while I did all the starter zones to get a hang of skills and decide on weapons and armor I then pretty much did just the zones needed for personal story, if a story took me to a new zone then I would complete that zone and then do the story. But most of my thief's leveling was done in WvW, she has 55% completion and only up to claw island on the story line (got bored and been wvwing a lot)

That's a good idea! I think I might do it that way with my Charr when I start playing him.

I took a different path through the map with my second character, so saw new things, but I didn't do it much differently; I ran through zones unlocking waypoints so I could return later to pay more attention, but really I just wanted to get to 80 and farm in Orr.

I have many hours played, yet neither character is at even 60% world completion. I do like exploring but I absolutely cannot stand 100%ing a zone. Well, some of them are fun. I liked doing Mount Maelstrom. But some of the vistas are just tedious. I enjoy a nice jumping puzzle providing it's well designed and I can see where the damn thing starts, but scanning around the base of a cliff getting further and further away from the vista, sliding off all the little red herrings they've put there to fool you with the camera zooming in and out like an idiot while some asshole ranged mob keeps attacking you making your walk speed slow and your jumping terrible, is not my idea of fun.

I didn't play the second character much different from the first, no. I did things as quickly as possible without spending much money so I could enjoy the game more at 80.

I just enter a zone and go wherever the resource nodes and events take me. I do usually try to complete the zone but that is really a secondary objective. I also don't just run past mobs or use waypoints, I prefer to kill my way to each objective and if there is a big +XP on a group of mobs I'll sit and grind on them just to milk it.

What a clever Idea I never thought of. Turn off all Icons and see what you can find on your own. IF I decide to run another toon to 80 I may very well try that one. Thank you for the Input.

I agree, I never thought of this either... I do feel like there are probably parts of this game that no one has found yet...I am probably wrong because you know how gamers are..but still. Anet has done a great job at hiding stuff in this game..lol

I have five characters all different races and classes and all at level 30. They all started in different places so they are all different and even no as I re-explore many of the lower levels with a different character I find the starter zones play different as I am usually down-leveled but I get two enemies to fight instead of one. Some of my characters have speed boosts so they jump better so vistas are harder with some characters. Armour is really different between light and heavy and medium armor so I had to learn to fight differently for each character which is difficult but fun. I have always complained that not enough people are doing the game this way as I share all my resources and awards and equipment with all five of my characters and I get relavent equipment for all characters so I don't sell much, I put stuff in my large bank and then upgrade each character upon switching. I also have the fun of discovery as I have not seen all the game yet so it keeps me interested to get to dungeons and level 80 stuff. Yes, I do feel left out sometimes but my strategy works for me and it will probably take me a year or so before getting to level 80. On many responders advice, I have also joined a guild so I do have people to help me now in low level group events which makes them more fun. I also can explore every area very thoroughly when at a higher level as there are many areas on each map that are not required for completion but that have jumping puzzles of hidden caves with bosses, or rich mining spots. My biggest concern right now is that I worry that by March 2013 many people will grow tired of this game because they played through too fast and don't want to go back and complete stuff making most maps deserted just like the beginning maps are now. I think we have to plan on playing this current game at least two years before an expansion so for many that's an eternity as they rushed through most of the game and spoiled all the surprise for themselves so it will feel like a grind when you play this way. I realize everyone plays differently so do what you want, but I developed my plan before I even started so I would have fresh new stuff to discover for at least a year.
