Thread: Present poppers

    Present poppers

You guys kinda suck. You run over, pop the present, grab the gifts on the ground and then take off leaving a pack of mobs behind. You do realize that there are presents on the mobs too right?

I am probably getting way more experience, and way more gifts than you are running all over the freaking place... and when you run around and pop all the presents, it makes it a challenge for others to find where the gifts are at.

Next year, I hope that those who present pop get lumps of coal in those gifts, and they transform into ugly sweaters if you stop and kill the mobs. Or if they aren't going to do that, make it so that the mystery presents are more like mining nodes.

Some of you will say to stop QQing. That's fine, but I am entitled to my opinion. I don't think anet meant for people to just run around the zone, pop all the presents as quickly as they could. I also suspect that there is a lot of botting going on with these... because people were either so excited to be opening presents that they couldn't respond to me, or they are bots... or they are turds.

I pop the present and then fight the critters. That is what you are supposed to do, right?

Yes, exactly what I do too. But there are some who think you pop the present, look the packages that drop and then run off to the next package... in a loop... as if they were a bot.

I only run when there's no one else around, because my little characters can't handle 4+ of any of those mobs that come out, much less 6 of them. But it others are around, I definitely fight them...and hope they'll help me out.

I run around 'poping' presents collect gifts, dodge roll, speed boost out of there, leave toys to kill someone else...

Its the fastest way to collect presents and avoids dieing.

Its anets fault for putting afew too many of the critters in the presents, which makes it too hard for a solo low'ish level character...blame them.

Also, a fun game, if you spot bots in the area of presents, pop them, lure them near the bots, dead bot characters...lol. Did this in Sparkfly Fen the other night...killed a dozen bots...hopefully no real life players were harmed in this exercise...lol

I pop and run in WvW all the time. Only fought the soldiers for the achievement. I'm not there to PVE but I do want my loot. So pop stability, open present, pick it up, ride the lightning away before those critters even get up. Like a boss. Then off to kill some low level noob.

I kill everything. For one thing, you can get some pretty decent drops from those guys. For another, I don't mind that they're hard. I like the challenge, though in truth only the princess dolls were really challenging and that was before I realized they were placing confusion on me. After that they were manageable.

I normally kill the mobs. Like Vayne said, you can get some good drops. I am getting lots better with my thief. Taking the mobs are not to bad.

Just drop some Cat Drops (think thats what they call them?) and kite them, lots of time, I dont have to fire a shot, they kill themselves chasing me around.

Yeah, I pop any present I see, nab the junk then fight the critters for the bonus junk.
And 9x out of 10, I'll even shoot a present or two to other people nearby via mail.
Y'know... because I'm Santa Clause... albeit a very VERY young one, but still.

Reminds me of my days in Lotro mining rich misty mountain silver nodes and taking the ore but leaving the coal for the next guy to be like "wtf".

On a separate note there are a lot of traps with the giant gifts and what to spend the ugly sweaters on. Nearly everything is on the tp for cheap money. It makes little sense to spend 200 sweaters on the recipe when the tp has em for like 2s. Same with the sling shot skin when it's on the tp for under 20s.

Best bet is to buy more giant gifts for a chance at something worthwhile or the unsafe gifts (which give a random gem store weapon skin I believe).

Also you can craft an endless tonic of your choice out of the toy frames in the mystic forge using the frame, stuffing, glue, and glittering dust. You either get the endless tonic or a small present that has the toy frame inside of it to be used again.
