Thread: So I ran my first Fractal dungeon...

So I ran my first Fractal dungeon...

Hated it. Took way to long, the reward's not worth the effort put forth. Never again. Not sure if regular dungeon's will pick up again or not. As of now, NOPE. Guess people think the same about the regular dungeons. To much work for the reward offered. You simply don't see people begging for help anymore to run a dungeon, at least on my server. (Ferguson's crossing).

    Anyone else notice the change??

The fractal dungeons are by far the best reward for the least amount of work. Presumably, you've taken the time to learn the dungeons and so you run them fast and it seems like a great reward. Having learned the fractals, I have the exact opposite opinion of you. They are far more rewarding than any other dungeon in the game, which is why people are running them.

Yeah, I'm with you. I just ran it for the first time today and I wasn't very impressed. The first part where I was running from one bonfire to the next to stay alive might have been interesting if it wasn't so buggy but the rest of the dungeon was just the same old run from 1 champ to the next and try to stay awake while auto attacking.

I guess my complaint isn't so much with the dungeon design it's more with the bosses. They are all just big bags of health that ignore the majority of control skills. It makes for very boring gameplay.

That's weird, I've never seen any bugs in that one. What happened?

lol welcome to MMO's on that one. Being able to lock down bosses with CC would make them even more boring.

You must have gotten some bad fractals, because to me, there's a lot of cooperation needed to complete at least most of them. In the Swamp, if you're not organized and coordinated, you're not going anywhere. In fact, the general consensus about the fractals is that they're pretty much the only place in GW 2 where you really need cooperation.

When we got to the boss at the end two of us still had the frostbite degen on us. It wouldn't go away until we fully died. We also kept getting stuck in the environment, walls, floor, everything.

If they allowed cc the boss fight would only be boring if they didn't improve the bosses mechanics. Yeah it would be boring right now because the bosses are stupid easy as long as you dodge the one or two big damage moves they have.

The swamp is the only one that needs a redesign imo. If you don't have a mesmer it's a pain, if you do, it's easy. TOo class dependent. I've been in so many groups that if that's the first one they get, they want to reset. Never done it as the first fractal. If we get it later, then we're pot commited it seems.

IMHO, the problem with the fractals, is most have never run them before, so team work is impossible when you have no clue what your doing.

The one I hated the most was underwater, you had to swim to this white cloud, and if you got into a black area, You were dead. Me and a couple of other guys got turned around, tough to see what your doing when the screen is black.

Once you die, thats it, no option to go back to a check point. Either you get revived, or everyone has to start over.

I am done running them, no thanks, Hope the regular dungeons pick up again, so if I die, I can just go back to a check point, I been wanting to run my thief in one just to see how it does.

OP, your comments are definitely coming from someone with little experience in fractals. I personally love them, The group cooperation is a must. This is especially true in the water one where being a lone wolf gets you killed. also, a lot of people asked for anet to kill off checkpoint zerging dungeons. I agree with this.

Jim- the frost one is my least favorite, The walls you get stuck in are supposed to be destroyed by your pt members. Good dungeons are trial and error, being as this is your first run, you have more error.

Bokiz- The swamp is completely doable without mesmers, I think you just have had poor groups, so I disagree with class dependancy. Like alomost everything in this game, its about equiping the right skills for the job. Unfortunately people always look for the easiest way to do anything and mesmers are their fix. "Thats too bad people cant learn to do it on their own accord"

It's doable...especially for me being an elementalist and still able to swap attuments while carrying the whisps. I can remove conditions and give myself swiftness for a bit while running (also stack it beforehand). It's just that people don't want to bother wasting their time on failed runs and would rather restart than try to run it. It's not a "it can't be done without mesmers" comment, it's a "seemingly MANY people would rather not bother with it since it's not actually hard, just possibly time consuming unless at least 3 people know what they're doing really well"
