I'm writing this off the top of my head, because I'm sort of tired of being accused of being a fan boi. The fact is, I like the game a lot, but it obviously has its flaws. Because I don't agree with the flaws others point out, I'm a fan boi. Of course, if I agreed with them, then I wouldn't be. Poppycock is what I have to say to that. So, a list of things I find wanting in the game.
1. Lack of Guesting - This feature was promised to us at launch and it's long overdue.
2. Cut scenes that show other characters - When you enter a dungeon, you see other people in cut scenes, instead of yourself. This is particularly crappy in Arah where the dungeon is part of your personal story. It's like you're the hero, you're the center of the story, until the last step of the story. This is really bad design.
3. The dungeons in general. I feel like the dungeons, (excluding the fractals) are the weakest part of Guild Wars 2. They're not fun. People run them for rewards, they don't run them because they love them. Why? Because they're zerg fests that require little strategy or team work. Without the trinity, it's up to Anet to create better team work in dungeons, in the same way they did in most fractals. There's some of it but not nearly enough. Same with the troll spawning in AC. It's a bonus event. Why? Half the time you don't even get a drop from it. It's not giving me anything. Make it like a dynamic event and give karma, XP and gold for it, then it's a bonus event. The way it is now it's a time wasting event.
4. More love for support classes. If you enter events and heal or rez, you get far less credit than if you kill. This encourages people to do the killing but doesn't encourage support at all. If you're buffing people and debuffing the enemy, you should be recognized for your accomplishments.
5. Zone traffic control. There need to be naturally occurring places where people congregate out in the world that doesn't run on timers. It's nice that people will stand around and wait for the Claw of Jormag, but that doesn't really help the game. There should be something in each zone that's unique to that zone that keeps people checking to or going to that zone. I'm not even sure what it could be, but it would give people in lower level areas more company for the really big events when they spawn. Even a world wide announcement that a big event is about to start would probably help, though it would be immersion breaking.
6. NPCs that die in dungeons. Yes, I'm talking about Destiny's Edge. How are these the heroes we need to bring back together when they're not even worth rezzing? Wouldn't it be easier to have them go into downed states and occasionally get themselves back up, rather than dying? Lower their damage output but increase their survivability. That's a huge deal to me.
7. Disconnects and leaving and coming back to the fractals for party members who've already been there. Another big one. Nothing worse than having to soldier through a man down, and then suffer because someone who got kicked can't come back in.
8. More paths to get the highest level gear. Right now it can only be attained in the fractals, at least the rings and backpacks. I'd like to see more ways to get this so people really can play their way.
9. Forcing people to WvW for their world completion/monthlies. You know, I like WvW. I enjoy it. I easily get my monthly every month and keep going back in. I'm farming badges anyway, because I eventually will want a legendary weapon. But not everyone wants to go in there and I think it sucks that they're forced to. Even for getting a legendary there should be an alternative path, a hard one to be sure, but alternate to having to WvW. This ruins the game for a lot of people (again I'm not one of them).
10. When there aren't enough people in a zone to complete it, group events should either spawn less frequently, or offer some sort of buff for smaller groups. This is a big problem. If you have to avoid 20% of the events in a zone, it's not really fun. And some you can solo, but many you can't, even at max level. Either put some NPCs worth a damn in there so players can play the game, particularly on off hours, or give players some kind of survival buff. This would be difficult because it would have to still be challenging for them. Also the buff would have to go if others showed up.
11. Preview items selling in the auction house. This is a no brainer. I really would like to see what I'm buying before I buy it, since this game is so much about appearance.
12. Stop with the stupid Marketplace stuff. It really annoyed me that there was a Halloween mini you could only get by having all three of the other minis, which you had to buy. So if you wanted all four minis, you had to buy the other three minis twice. This just looks like pure greed. It's not a good look for the company.
There are more as I said, but this is what I can write off the top of my head.
