husband and wife looking for friendly and fun guild

    Hello,

my husband and I are looking forward to playing GW2 when it comes out, and are interested in finding a guild before hand. We have both played WoW for many years, I have been in top server raiding guilds, but he was mostly more casual of a raider/player (knowing that gw2 is geared very differently, just stating our past play history) We are both on a break from mmo's at the moment, but he is currently spending most of his time on BF and other games.

    What we are looking for:
    - We have odd schedules (I work 3rd shift, he works 1st) so looking for a eastern time guild (We live in Maine) ... one that is active primarily between 5-10pm for any major guild events...tho he can usually play a bit later when I have to go to work.
    - Mature in the sense of being able to function w/o drama, or headaches. I lead a fairly successful guild in the past, and I know how stressful it can be, and also know what can make a good guild, or break one apart. We have a great sense of humor, so its not like we are looking for a group that isn't silly or childish sometimes, but just avoids unnecessary issues.
    - a guild that is more than just logging on and playing. I especially value friendship in game and appreciate being able to log on and get to know the people we play with. This being said, a vent or similar chatting server is nice too.
    - a group that is interested in helping each other instead of just letting people fend for themselves. I know there has been times in the past when I've really relied on the aid or advice of a guildie for certain things, as well as helped people out.
    - a guild that is interested in doing some fun stuff, but also in being challenged, and having players that can hold their own. I know this game is different from what I've played in the past, but using my experience from WoW - I hated just doing the same stuff without progress or people that really knew what they were doing. It makes the experience not as fun. we are not hard-core, but dont really want a guild that wont push people a bit too.

We are looking for a place to stick around. I am personally not really a fan of PVP, but my husband does enjoy it. I am not interested in guild hopping...I'd really love to find a good group before the game comes out, a place to get to know the people we'll be playing with!

Oh, if it matters, I am 28, my husband Joe is 31. As I said, we live in Maine, with our dog. Feel free to ask any other questions.

    Thanks for your time,
    Crystal

    EDIT to add info.

First of all, I'd like to welcome you to the forums. There are a lot of really nice people here and loads of useful information.

Those odd schedules of yours works just fine with our guild, Ship Happens. In fact, most of us live in Cincinnati, so we're the eastern time zone. We're with you on the whole "no drama" thing. Some people have tried to start some stuff with us and we just turn the other cheek. Ship Happens focuses on the members more than the game. We stay in constant contact on FB and our guild forums. Those of us in the Cincinnati area meet up quite often too. So far we have had a guild meeting at a Waffle House, the Ohio Ren. Fest (in costume), Tumbleweed to take on the cheeseburger challenge, and on the 21st we're having a GW2 party at steampunk themed cyber cafe at Roxx. Because we have guild members all over the world, we are going to have live chats and web cams up during the events so that we can all talk. Here's an example...

We make videos like this all the time. It's one of the things we like to do together. We also joke around A LOT! So if you are interested in a steampunk airship pirate themed guild with a very close community all over the world, then feel free to check out our guild web site or our youtube page at www.youtube.com/TheGuildShipHappens

And if that doesn't do it for you, then maybe this will...

Thanks - but my husband says he is not interested in a RP guild. I told him that you dont force people to RP, but he said he just really isn't in to that. Thank you for the reply tho!

Not a problem. Thanks for trying

There's loads of guilds here. Most of them don't RP or have very light RP. So finding the perfect guild for you and your hubby shouldn't be hard to do.

Hi latsyrcami, welcome to these forums, and good luck finding the right guild for you two. There are already several guilds to choose from in our guilds section, and I'm confident that, at the latest by the time the game is released, there will be many suitable guilds to choose from.

By the way, if your name is a palindrome, then shouldn't it end in mai instead of ami ?

Wow - you are the first person to EVER point that out - and I've had that name for over 10 years. Its more a play on words. "I'm a Crystal" - like the semi-precious stone But I thought about the other as well.

Welcome to the forums Crystal & Joe.

While our guild doesnt have fancy videos like SH, we do have a family that is always looking to expand, we are Clan Dragon. It is a simple guild filled with people that enjoy the fun of helping each other and playing together as a group. Once it is fixed (and it seems to be a pain in the *$&#@ to fix) we will have our TeamSpeak server back up and running for voice chat...where we always seem to end up laughing more at each other as we geek out. Come check us out at www.clan-dragon.org...read the charter...if it suits you then sign up for the forums and say hello.

Oh and we play on more then just GW2...we started out with Final Fantasy XI...went to XIV...and some have moved into Star Wars. And if you happen to be Asura there is a branch of CD called Spanish Inquisition that I head up...but that can be talked about if you're interested at a later time

Woot! Someone thinks our videos are fancy!

I've talked to the Spanish Inquisition here on the forums. Funny people they are. You should check them out.

It wouldn't be a palindrome anyway since a palindrome needs to be the same both backwards and forwards. Such as "Taco Cat"

Feeling tired? There's a nap for that.
