Thread: Can I run this??

    Can I run this??

Is it possible to get a smooth framerate running on the lowest possible settings with an nvidia geforce 9100? System requirements lab says I can't, but I don't trust them. Cheers.

    I'm afraid not...

Integrated graphics, such as the 9100, tend to struggle with gaming or doing anything very intensive.

If you're using a laptop, then there's not much you can do other than buy an entirely new one. If you're using a desktop then it's pretty easy to upgrade your card. I recommend a Radeon HD 6870 as it gives the best bang for the buck, imo.

What are the other specs for your computer?

    Windows 7 64 bit
AMD Athlon II X4 620 processor 2.60 GHz
    8 GB RAM
    1 Terabyte HDD
    It's a desktop

I can run games like planetside 2, tribes ascend, and diablo 3 on low settings fairly smooth. I'm not sure if guild wars is more or less demanding.

Make sure you have atleast a 300 Watt power supply.
Also with your processor WVW large battles and large events will not be alot of fun.

Thanks, I may purchase this card. But until then, do you think my rig as it is now could run smoothly on minimal settings?

No the built in 9100 will not run the game but you can try.

Not even with everything turned down all the way? Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait. It's a real shame that guild wars has such bad coding. I've had the ability to play a ton off mmos, no matter how new. I think Arenanet would have made a lot more money had they tried to appeal to people with lower end rigs.

give it a try, there are plenty cheap cards that can be installed to get it to run if you have a problem.

I'm in a guild with someone who has a Pentium laptop from Walmart (on integrated) who plays WvWvW and is a functional ally. He claims 25FPS.
    He is either a) lying
or b) the game has been optimized that us "computer guys" advice is now outdated.

I think it is (b), and I vote give it a try. Turn everything on low as hell, perhaps even dropping your resolution down from your monitors native setting. If you are going to buy a card, get advice on that depend on your plans for that particular computer and your budget. Don't just throw something cheap at it as a bandaid.

Let us know if you try the game out and how it runs.

You need to rethink that some (9100) is no where near the HD 3000 MIN.
