Question about what will transfer to GW2...

Like if I buy some Guild wars campaigns like Factions, Nightfall yeah... will those campaigns transfer to GW2 after I link everything? Or is it specificly only going to transfer the Hall of monument achievements and your usernames?...

From the official FAQ:

Can I play my original Guild Wars character in Guild Wars 2?

Guild Wars 2 is a whole new game with different professions and races, new technology, and expanded gameplay. It is not possible to directly use an original Guild Wars character.

However, your original Guild Wars character names will be reserved for your use in Guild Wars 2. The Hall of Monuments in Guild Wars 2 recognizes the accomplishments commemorated by your original Guild Wars characters and provides you with unique rewards to showcase those achievements.

So no, nothing from the Guild Wars 1 campaigns will transfer over to Guild Wars 2. Only your character names will be reserved for you in Guild Wars 2, and through the Hall of Monuments you can obtain certain item rewards and titles in Guild Wars 2. That's all. Lore wise, Guild Wars 2 will (initially) only contain the region known from the Prophecies campaign (ie. the campaign that was originally called 'Guild Wars')... the regions from Faction and Nightfall will initially not be accessible... those may be added in expansions lateron (or not).

So if you would buy the GW1 campaigns at this stage (if you really want to and haven't played any GW1 before, I'd highly recommend buying the GW Trilogy and the Eye of the North expansion), it should be because you enjoy playing GW1 and may even want to do so after GW2 is released... imho the HoM rewards by themselves aren't big enough to justify buying the game for.

I attempted the HoM stuff, but it's a pretty daunting task if you haven't already been playing GW1. I thought I heard/read/started a rumor somewhere that the HoM things you get, up to the first 30 points which is the last piece of gear/weapon, are available to you through GW2. Obviously they wouldn't be at the start but I'm thinking more like once you get to max level and start over you might have "hand me downs".

Yeah, if you haven't been playing GW1, then getting to 30 points in the HoM is quite a feat. As for things you get... the only things you get in GW1 for filling your HoM, is statues and titles. You don't actually get any item rewards at all. However, you are correct in that the first 30 points in your HoM will translate into item/armor/pet rewards in GW2. As those are GW2 specific items, it's not a case of things "transferring over" from GW1, it's just things you earned in GW2 by playing GW1. But don't worry... not having those items is not a major drawback. They will have the same stats as items available in-game, it's just that they will have different looks/skins.
