Hi from Riverview Florida. Definitely new here. Downloaded and installed the game but haven't played it yet. I want to read the forums and get some good info before I start like what's a good race and professions to start with etc. I've been playing LotRO but that game is slowly going downhill.

Good news! You've got 5 character slots, so you can start a bunch of characters and see which ones you like! I'm partial to the Norn and Asura myself. Human is the most popular race, and you can tell just by going to the starter zone. I actually take all of my new characters there once they hit level 5 just because the other starter zones can be a little quiet at times.
Ranger and Warrior are probably the most newbie friendly professions but most of them are pretty easy to pick up if you're willing to learn them. Mesmer might take a while to get used to playing just because it's so different from anything else out there in other games. All of the classes can take on various roles and since retraining is cheap, like 5 copper per point spent cheap, you can try various builds and see which playstyles you like.

Welcome! I still need to introduce myself to the forums but I've been around. If you're going guardian I can comfortably say the most newbie-friendly weapon combo is scepter / focus! I stopped lotro when it went Free to Play, but enjoyed it still

Guardians are fun, biggest draw back to them is they don't have much in the way of ranged ablities. I love my Asura guardian a lot though, got him up to lvl 63 now
