Which class is best for me?

    Hello^^

I would like a profession that is good at about everything. Farming/Dung/Events/Overall..
I am getting the game today and I want to do it right from the get go xD!
I personally like Rangers a lot, and hate mages.. So no ele/mesmer for me ;D!
And please tell me the reason for choosing that profession!

    Appreciate the help!

The character class you play 1st doesn't after be the one you take all the way to lvl 80.

Getting a class to lvl 30 is enough for you to deciede wether you like that class or not.

Bearing that in mind from the sounds of your post Warrior/Guardian/Ranger/Thief/Engineer may appeal to you. Engineers are not very popular, alot of players think they are not so good. Alot of players say guardians/thiefs are the best out of those character classes.

all classes are very versatile and work different kind situations. Sure some are bit better in some situations than others but in overall all are good on their own way.

Even if you don't like general mages in gw2 if you use weapon like dagger on mage the game style is lot different so i would try them out too.

but since you said you like rangers then probably it is good choice for you.

Rangers are pretty ezmode. so safe choice there. Guardian is well rounded class good at solo, always welcomed in groups. Never played thief, there seems to be a lot of them so they must be decent. Ive heard mixed opinions from friends on their soloing capabilities. Like was said, do judge classes in gw2 based on other games. The way weapons change the classes really helps them break the mold of typically mmo classes. I would try everything and see what feels like you.

I'd suggest you research the interwebs. YouTube, Wiki and forums will help you more than anything anyone else will say as we have no actual idea of which one will suit you or which you will enjoy more.

Something that is good at everything is OP :P Professions (classes) in this game tend to be very situational, which is nice. You'll probably enjoy Ranger the most, as they have a cool pet and a lot of ranged aoe capabilities. Farming in this game is completely different from other games. Farming in this game = Gathering resources (kind of like mining in WoW, less annoying though) and just doing group events. You can't solo dungeons - at least I don't think - as you scale down in level with the dungeons, so you're always grouping. Pick a class that really does fit your style, because at the end of the day it has to be one you enjoy! Not one that sounds good on paper

I use a thief (have since launch, never looked back), which is like a ranger without a pet and shorter ranged attacks. That might be your thing too, because if you put a lot of trait and skill points into abilities that keep you stealthed, you can run by angry mobs pretty easily and even farm nodes while stealthed!

tl;dr - Anything worth farming isn't soloable except gathering resources which any class can do. Pick something you would have the most fun with! I suggest Ranger or Thief (with bow as secondary weapon).

    Any questions hit me up!
