If you farm the materials to make gold gear...and then use a good salvage kit (black lion or mystic) to break it down, there's a chance for ectos.

With the way the economy is it's more profitable to just buy items off the TP and break them down for ectos then resell them. People have no idea what anything is worth. Global economy wooooo!
