    Is it dying?

A few people I talk to all seem to think that gw2 is dying.... Is this true? Almost all of the American servers are very high population at 12:15 am during a week night. I don't think it is personally, or at least I hope not because I love the game.

My friends say that when they do quests or anything no one is ever there that they don't feel like it is an mmo. I even admit that some areas are really lacking in people, but I don't think it is dying really.

What do you guys think about it?

Nah. It's just not a design model that demands you to log in every day for X amount of hours for it to survive. Although it makes it hard to gauge how many people are still playing and if the game is still healthy in population.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it until the WvW queues vanish and the server list shows the majority of homeworlds as "low" population.

Judging from LA where you are always put on a queue every time you go/log there, then I say from that the game isn't dying. In addition LA is not the exception nearly all capitals put you in a queue when you go/log there but just less consistently than LA.

If you wondering why there are less people around than it appears, well culling have a part in it. People can be standing only some feets away and you don't even see them. Not all ghost town effects can be attributed to culling though. Time of day can be a main attributation, and season as well. It is Christmas and New Year. Do not know if people would stay in a room with a monitor like I am. I am only doing it because I've got a bad cold.

Tyria is a very big world and many people are spread out. There are tons of people doing fractals for example. The people playing SPvP don't show either. None of those people will be in the open world, but they're still playing the game. If you're ever really wondering how we're doing, go to a busy server, any of them, and look at the size of the zergs in WvW. Another thing you can do is go to one of the timer sites that predict dragon appearances, and go to one. You'll find people, I promise you.

The other day I was in Sparkfly Swamp and it felt like Orr. I couldn't figure out why. I was at an event with a pretty big zerg. Then the undead dragon showed up and I realized that's what everyone was waiting for. People are simply dispersed more. At launch, everyone was in the same five zones, and going through the game at roughly the same rate, so it seemed like tons of people were playing.

And of course there have been people who've left the game, but if you look at even these forums, you'll see people that are new almost every day. The game's population is healthy...it's just spread out.

    No its not dieing.

I have noticed loads more low levels wondering around in game since christmas and alot more newbie threads on forums.

Lions Arch is ALWAYS on overflow in Seafarers Rest because of fractals. Always lots in WvW. Like Vayne said, go to where dragons are which spawn a chest at the end which drops 6 items and loads of players turn up.

People largely go to whereever the best loot is mostly...

Not saying it's dying but you really can't go off of what the servers say. A-Net could easily adjust it so that all the servers say high population just to make it seem like the game has a better population than it really does.

If all the servers started saying low except for 1 or 2 everyone would try to jump on the popular servers and the people coming in and getting stuck on a low pop server wouldn't stick around long because no one wants to play on a dead world.

Right but you CAN, as many people said, go by how many people are zerging in WvW or how many people show up for dragon attacks. Honestly, just saying stuff cause you're pissed at Anet is getting old. The population is healthy because when you go to places that people gather there are people there...no matter what the server stats say.

Am lvling a sexy thief in Diessa Plateau at the moment and it's full of people. The 'cattlepult' seems to be still bugged though, which is a swine.

Yeah, considering that I logged on yesterday with my alt and got put into an overflow for Queensdale, I'd say its more likely the opposite of dying... its growing.

.....Never let modern day travesties harm the memory of greatness.
