Greatsword elite skill question

I just hit 40 on my ele. My main is an 80 Charr ranger. I LOVE the elementalist so far. I intend to be a support ele in wvw. (I don't play spvp or tpvp).

So far everyone says to get the elemental elite skill. Personally, didn't care for it much. it was effective, but not really my playstyle. So for my first elite I chose the greatsword.

Wow! does WAY more dmg than I could ever dream of putting out, summons one for you and one for someone else (or two for you ;p) it is very mobile, and just plain fun.

I personally think that the greatsword outshines ALL other elite skills by a factor of at least 10.

Since everyone says the elemental Is better, how so?

I guess it depends on how you're playing. With my DD I do a lot more damage with my normal weapons than with any summoned weapon and I don't get the synergies from using my auras.

I only use the GS for PVE to mix things things up and not get bored, because it sure is a fun gimmick. But if I want to play WvW I don't really like it that much. You could use it, though, to give a colleague that has no great aoe possibilities the sword so he can also use the small meteor shower to destroy siege equipment on the battlements. But other than that and for fun, I don't think it's a better choice than the elemental.
