Exploration, hearts and dynamic events in short.

However, and it's only now that I've come to appreciate it, is that leveling up isn't really the point to this game. Levels will come naturally and it's the game-play that matters.

My question to you, OP, is what is the rush to level up? There's not much you're going to do at max level that you can't do starting at say level 30, so where is the hurry?

I do understand in many MMOs the game doesnt' begin till you hit max level, but Guild Wars 2 isn't one of them. If you do rush to max level, my guess is you won't be playing the game for long.

Google some crafting guides, make sure you always finish your dailies and do all the dynamic events you run into.

Now unless you're going to focus on WvW (which you prob aren't) then like the other posters said, there is 0 reason to rush to 80; actually play the game and you know...enjoy the experience. But if I'm wrong and you actually need to be 80 so you can kick butt in WvW...then do the above.

why i ask is because it appears that you need to be at a certain level in order to beat the various adversaries ie "into the woods" it shows that you need to be at level 16 to stand a chance

Yes, but why are those adversaries any better or worse than the ones you're fighting at level? When you get to 16, you'll get to those adversaries. There are so many hidden caves, mini dungeons, jumping puzzles, events that are really cool...and you'll go right by them just trying to get there as fast as possible.

Some of us have been playing since beta and we see the same thing over and over. People who have rushed through the game and left, or people who have rushed through the game only to find that when they play their second character, and don't rush through they enjoy the game much more. This game wasn't mean to level as fast as possible. It's simply not the design of the game.

You can do it, but again, I think it's very likely that when you hit max level, you'll just leave. Try giving the game a chance the way they designed it to be played, instead of the way you play other MMOs and you'll probably enjoy it a lot more.
