Can I use Windows Live Messenger while playing GW2

I want to use live messenger while playing to talk to my Grandson because of my bad slow typing. Can it be done and how do I do it. Sorry if this is in wrong formum, was not sure where to post it.

I'm sure it is possible, but I'm not really familar with Windows Live Messenger. But if it works like most other voice servers you start it up and let it run while you are in game and simply hit the talk button (if not on voice activation) to chat.

If you can't get Live Messenger to work there are several free easy to run voice servers out there that work just fine. Like C3, teamspeak, GSC to name a couple, but there are lots of others too.

The problem with skype is that it's too memory intensive. The reason programs like Vent, mumble and teamspeak are used is because you can have a boatload of people on them, and they don't slow down your games much. Skype isn't really designed for that. Skype is a communications program that's stand alone...not really made to run in the background.

The right tool for the right job, I always say.
