    Guild wars 2 Economy

Even though the market has gotten better (This is just what I have heard, I've only been playing for about two weeks). It still seems pretty bad. And I think its a combination of a lot of things. But I feel the main problem is that there is just too much competition. What happens is, people go into crafting, they make all these these items and expect to make profit. At the same time, there are merchants who are looking to buy items low, and then to sell them high. So you have all these people trying to compete for profit. And the only way to get your item sold with profit is to find a good price gap. This is where everything is ruined and products become depreciated. Once one person sets the bar low, another person comes and sets it even lower. Until the product is worth barely any coins. Then on the other hand, you have a bunch of people trying to craft items to level up. Materials are all of a sudden in high demand and material prices go up higher than finished products. The conclusion I have come to is, farming and loot is the way to make money. That's just how the game is designed. And until everyone switches over to farming because they see that's where the real profit is. The tables will turn and maybe products will be worth more than materials. It will be like this until Arena Net does something different. Unless this is what they intended.

Its not so bad... you wanna see a bad game economy, check out DCUO.

There was a glitch exploit on the PS3 version (don't know if it happened on the PC version, as well) where you could make a trade for large sums of money, pull the plug on your system after hitting accept before the other guy did, then he could accept the money, but when you logged back on, you'd still have yours. It was quickly caught and fixed once found, and the League (Guild) that was responsible got banned (every player in that League, not just the ones who did it), but the damage was already done. Items were selling for upwards of $1billion and very few people could afford anything... to try and fix it, they knocked everyones funds down to $100million (though if you had max number of characters with money, that still left you with $1.6 billion), but that didn't help. Everyone I knew felt they should knock everyone down to $100,000 at max, since before the glitch the most expensive items in the auction house were around $80,000, but yeah... they never dealt with it ever again, so there's still crap in there that goes for dozens of millions of $$$... its just absolutely ridiculous, especially when you consider F2P players can only have a max of $2000 at a time (with the rest over that being stored in escrow where they have to pay IRL $$$ to get it)... now THAT's broken.

Basically what I'm saying is the economy on GW2 is nothing.
So yeah, its not broken... its not ideal, but its not broken.

.....Never let modern day travesties harm the memory of greatness.

Also, I just found an amazing site to make money crafting. gw2spidy.com It shows the trading post in real time. I can go into the weapon smithing tab and figure which weapons I can craft to make money! There even weapons our right now you could make like 5 gold on.

Oh I dunno about that. There was that Karma glitch at first which got people hundreds of gold (and not all of them were punished). Not to mention at one point I was buying 70-79 rare weapons and armor for near vendor price, salvaging them for 2 ectos a pop and reselling for a major profit.

Rares are more expensive now but still, people don't know the value of anything. And it's not entirely the players fault either. Nothing in this game really has value to begin with.
