    Got GW2 as a gift

So I got it as a gift, saved order receipt in multiple places, but my friend told me that someone bought her guild wars 2 but then the guy terminated it because he was the one who bought it, all he had to go was go to support. Then she told me when she tried to put a new cd key on it, they won't let her...when she had like a lvl 40 character...so I'm afraid that the same thing will happen...so should I buy a new copy cd key to replace it...?

Well it sounds like either your friend didn't buy an official copy, or her boyfriend got it for her and they broke up and he wanted to spite her so he "proved" to Anet he bought it and had her blocked from playing. If you got it as a gift from a family member for Christmas I would say you have no worries about getting your account closed like your friend. Also if you have the receipt if something ever did arise you should be able to prove to Anet you are the original owner of the account.

well, I got this from a internet friend who disappeared, he used his credit card or paypal, but he was pretty nice, I think he probably has no way of terminating my account, but he has the credit card or whatever evidence, but it's been 4 months. He also put my email instead of his email for the order receipt, so I don't think he has a copy...I shouldn't lose it right?

This sounds kinda weird....internet friend bought you GW2 and now he "disappeared"? Either there is WAY more to this story or your making this up maybe looking for ways to activate an account that isn't yours or something along those lines. I'm not saying that this is what you are doing, but this doesn't pass the smell test imo.

How well do you know this person who gave you the account? I think it's up to you to judge if they're a trustworthy individual or not.

I would use caution with activating the account. If you want to play the game, try it out, and just level a character a bit then go ahead and use the key you have. If you want to make a permanent character with no threat of account termination or funny business then I would suggest buying your own key.

In your other thread you said your account was banned or whatever, so I'm kind of confused here.

No, it was terminated because someone hacked me........but I got the account back. The person who bought me my GW2 was a person that I met online, now I can't find him anymore..

Bump, I think i’m perfectly safe, because the guy who bought me this doesn’t even play MMOs, so I don’t think he even plays GW2 and knows about support. And he has no absolute reason to do this to me, it’s very specific, so yea…
