Thread: GW2 after WOW

  1. #11
I just wanted to chime in. I played WoW and I was very love/hate with it. I loved the lore, and playing with friends or my guild. I hated the repetitiveness and the lack of individuality after expansions. I hated being slaughtered by people less skilled, but more time for better gear through grind. I played Vanilla and Catacylsm, and after Cata I couldn't stand to give Blizzard another dollar. One build is functional for PvE then one maybe two builds are functional in PvP per class. Dafuq is that? The grinding was mind numbing.

I was always a FPS player, so I am drawn to PvP. GW2 seems to have everything I like including a focus on PvP and PvE at the same time, from the start. A lot of opportunity to make your character however you like. There is a lot to do if you don't try to power level. You can participate in what would be called "end game" way before you are a max level. So you can spend your time leveling by more than just quest grinding it out.

This game set out to be different, and did a great job of it. Like any MMO there is some repetition, but it avoids it in many respects. Some builds function better in certain areas. I think I also happen to be on a server with a very good community.
