If I tranmute a soulbound item to none soul bound, will it still be soulbound?
I really want a high level armour for my newbie (looks) but the one I want is soulbound so I can trade it over to him which is typical, so was wondering if there's anyway to do it?

If you open the transmutation stone window where you drag and drop the gears you are doing there is a warning at the bottom in red saying that when you transmute something it becomes soulbound, even if it wasn't before. It didn't used to be that way, I think the patch at Chirstmas added that, but thats how it is now sorry.
What you can do is buy the good looking armour, (before it is used it is not soulbound except for dungeon gear) and give it to your low lvl toon (or just buy from the TP on that toon). Transmute it on that toon and then you have the look you want. I did this on my Ele so she looks really sweet and I just pass the skin up as I find newer gear. Works pretty well and it gives me a use for all the stones I have lol.
Thanks, I could of sworn it was soul bound when I bought the armour but I must of tried it on by accident
Do they not give the warning that it'll become soul bound if you wear it now? I can't remember seeing it.
They do give you a warning when equiping things the first time that it will be soulbound. Anything you get in the TP should not be soulbound when you buy it. If the armor was dungeon token armor or WvW badge armor it is soulbound when you get it, also Karma armor from karma merchants soulbounds when you buy it from the karma merchant.
A lot of the gear you buy will be soulbound on acquire and it tells you that when you mouseover the item in the shop window.
If all you're going for is looks transmuting soulbound items onto white gear will make it account bound so you can transfer its looks through your bank. It was initially thought of as a bug but they recently changed the tag from Soulbound to Account Bound when you transmute to a white item.
It was a karma item so that would be why it was soul bound then
Ill try transferring to a white item when I get home.
