Sure seems to be a lot of spam lately

I mean, spam will always happen there's really no avoiding it. But over the past month or so it's increased a lot. A few nights ago I saw one thread copy-pasta'd at least 5 times across multiple sections of the forum. You guys usually do a really good job of getting rid of them / moving them to off topic. But it must get annoying.

Maybe it's time to put some restrictions on new accounts? Like not allowing them to create threads unless they post a certain number of times or something similar?

Just food for thought.

Oh believe me, I would love to put more security on these forums, but I have no power over that what-so-ever. Only JohnnyV can do that and he's been gone for quite a while now. Stay tuned though because things may be changing pretty soon.

That is almost three months ago. How can you be sure that things may be changing pretty soon? Not to be negative or anything, but because of his inactivity you guys (the mods) have to work extra hard in keeping the forums clean and organised, and because of this spam I am sure some people are leaving these forums because they are annoyed by it.

I am sure a lot of good things could be done to these forums, not only for the existing community here but also to attract new people and make it more active again (because to me it seems a bit inactive altogether now, at least opposed to as it used to be).

So I am hoping for your sake and these forums that something indeed will be changing soon otherwise traffic will only become less and less active I'm afraid.

Sorry Cariad, I deleted the graphic even though it was cool, because I didn't want people to have to continually scroll down to see what I have to say. Here is, essentially, the situation.

In early March this year, this domain expires. I haven't had luck getting in contact with the owners of the domain, but I haven't really tried that hard. There simply may be no forum after March 10th or so, if we don't contact the owners, and I'm not sure what their response would be. In fact, I don't know much of anything.

If the ads on the site are making enough money for someone to continue to pay for the domain, the owner might simply renew it, and that would be that....but we simply don't know. So, if you want to stay in touch with people here after March, you might want to exchange contact information now.

If any more information becomes available, I'll pass it on.

You can always sign up to one of the domain snatching services to grab the domain name if it doesn't get renewed. However with a pagerank of 1 and very valuable name I think there will be a lot of interest in the traffic the website generates.

Vayne, can we get a heads up with about a week before this website might go down? There are a few people I may want to get contact info from now and I'm too lazy to just to it today. That and I can barelly see out of one eye and don't feel like doing much right now.
