    Checking in or out

Wow what happened to this forum? Since centaur left this is like dead zone. Or could be that the game is dying out. All the new changes forcing players to pay to be able to have a chance in the game. Wow who would have said that 6 months ago.

Oh well just checking in, I am playing less and less, Orr is still impossible to do but I hope that in the new update they fix this, lets see.

I am playing Firefall as an alternative until GW2 fixes the situation with Orr and makes the end game less boring.

    Fanbois have at it.
Jhn 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

They've sold an additional 1million copies meaning over 3million boxes sold so, unlikely.

The forum died because there was so much negativity here, that everyone walked away. 90% of the people in my guild were recruited from this forum. No one from my guild frequents this forum anymore, but I'd say about 75% of the people who joined my guild are still there and active.

The forum died because it's depressing for people who are enjoying the game, which is many of us. And you know, I can understand how they feel.

With over 3 million copies sold and a ton of people playing, certainly on my server the game isn't close to dying. But there are people who like this type of game...what this game offers...and there are people who obviously prefer other types of games.

In truth, most fans of the game have better things to do with their time than to sit here and defend the game...you know, like playing and enjoying it.

Edit: Have to pay to play the game? You clearly haven't a clue. What exactly do you have to pay for to play this game?

You keep saying that but the forum has hardly been negative for a long time. (titan blade aside) If you left because it was toxic and never bothered to check to see if things have changed, you have a rather narrow view of things imo. This is not a toxic forum in the least bit.

The reason the forum is dead is because there is not much new to talk about. No large expansions have been released. No major changes, scandals, holidays or announcements. When the jan, feb and march updates are release, depending on content, I wager you will see an uptick in activity.

Quite frankly, other than the idiotic POSSIBLE change to the AOE system (read nerf) I have notihng I'm overly happy or mad about...at least till the updates start getting released and then we'll see. however, the AOE thing really is just stupid.

I agree almost completely with you here. I think that lack of discussion topics are a major cause of the lull on these forums.

I do give merrit to Vaynes comments as well. We lost quiet a few of our discussion leaders due to both negative comments.

But when we look at these things, we also have to consider that anet themselves have sent a good portion of our members packing as well.

Nothing is black and white, the truth is in the gray.

Gw2 is so good we're all playing it instead of discussing it.

Yeah I dunno where this keeps coming from. With the exception of random people being mad at the game when it released, and the new item tier debacle (which was fully warranted IMO because it came out of no where) it's not that bad.

Fan forums become less active after releases. Excitement has settled, people have less questions, there really is nothing to post about anymore. When updates happen it'll pick back up then die out again.

Sorry but I disagree with this completely. People stayed here originally for the community. It's what they liked. They didn't leave here and just wait and wait and wait to see if this community improved at that time. They went and found other communties. There are people who now are in guilds that are fun to be in and don't need to be here. Some people who used to post here post on the guild forum, for example. They simply have no reason to return.

You seem to be laboring under the impression that people are loyal to forums. Some people are, but to most, forums are simply tools. This forum served a purpose for people at one time, and also provided community. People saw that the posts were getting negative, prior to Centaur's departure even, and they stopped posting. They're not going to keep coming back to see if it's better. They move on..and why wouldn't they?

The official forums is open for information. Guru is still around. Some people go to reddit, where Anet has a presence, and some people just use their guild forum, or don't participate in forums at all and just play. But there's no reason to come back once you've left it behind, unless you're the type of person like me who does feel some sort of loyalty to a forum. Apparently you're the same...but I can assure you. We're the exception, not the rule.

There are at least five people in my guild right now who used to be quite active here, who don't even check the page anymore. And they don't have the energy or time to come here, because they have no reason to come here. They still talk about Guild Wars 2, just not here.

If there's nothing to talk about because there's no major upgrades or patches, then why is the official forum busy? Why is guru still busy?

There must be something to talk about. The fact is the infighting left a bad taste in a lot of mouths, and people left and moved onto other things. You don't have to accept it, but I'm still in contact with quite a few of them. They've told me at least why they've left.

It's not like I'm making this shit up.

It comes from me talking to the people who left. That's where it comes from.

Okay. And compared to the on average, 600-1000+ people viewing the forum per day? (I mean a lot of them are guests but still). When there's something worth discussing, discussions will come up. This happens to every fan forum that only focuses on one game and not several.

It's normal. As soon as we see the first batch of major changes and new features, discussions will start again.
