Thread: Checking in or out

I'm gonna agree to disagree with you on that one. To those posters that are here, like robin, fey, zeroc, you and myself....what do you want to talk about? What are the outstanding hot topics that are being talked about on all the other forums (except the official ones) that are not being discussed here because everyone left?

Because if there are a ton of topics to talk about that werent already discussed to death, I'd love to get the conversation rolling.

We talk about stuff all the time in my guild. There's plenty of conversation that goes on. Different builds are discussed, and there are tons of them. Things we've discovered we've never seen before. New stuff that's been added. Best strategies for getting your legendaries. The whole magic find discussion.

Just today there was a big question an answer thing with Anet on their official Twitch channel. I was going to post it, but I didn't get a chance and it slipped my mind. They spoke about stuff that was upcoming, including several changes that people might discuss. One of the things they mentioned was that AOE was too powerful and they were looking to tone it down, giving single target people in WvW more reason to have single target builds.

The fact is, there's plenty to discuss because my guild discusses stuff all the time.

Well, 1) What is the internet? 2) I know I've seen some drama. Was part of it too, to my own disgust. Ironic because I really, really hate drama. The rest of it, I wasn't around for so I'll take your word on it.

But you argue as much as anyone does so, do you count as being part of the negativity too?

Also internal Guild discussions don't usually have a purpose to be posted unless more input is needed on said topic. Just saying.

Sure I argue. I like to argue. And some people might get pissed off about that, but from the other side of the coin, if you like a game, really like it, and people are bad-mouthing it, you can be the type of person who doesn't care what other people think, or you can be the type of person who simply doesn't want to hear negative thing said about stuff you're enjoying.

Let's pretend you were a fan of disco. Would you enjoy hanging out with a bunch of people who hate disco, who badmouth it all the time?

People probably didn't leave this forum because I defended Anet. Well some might have, but I'm not sure those people would have helped keep people here anyway.

You aren't particularly sensitive, but a lot of people are. So instead of sitting around watching a game they liked bashed, they bailed. I'm not all that sensitive either, so I stay and argue.

I'd say between 15 and 20 people actually contacted me to tell me why they were leaving. I can't imagine most people would stop to tell me why they were leaving...they'd just leave.

We need a Vayne intervention pronto!!! A disco based analogy? We need to talk. Soon.

Trying to convince someone to think differently is trivial, especially over the internet, I think our own discussions are enough proof of that.

The only real difference is that I was able to take your point of view on several topics and add them to my own, and hoped you were able to do the same so that we could better understand each other. But the reality of gaming on the internet (which I know you're already aware of but I'm gonna say it anyway)

MMO gamers are ridiculously fickle. They often expect one thing, then get another and complain. They think things are missing or imperfect and complain. Then when given what they ask for they'll complain anyway. I honestly feel sorry for every dev in the world that has to deal with MMO Gamers. Because we're all ridiculous.

This is something I can agree with completely. I really do feel sorry for devs. Not just Anet but pretty much most devs.

The reason the forum is dead is because there is not much new to talk about. No large expansions have been released. No major changes, scandals, holidays or announcements. When the jan, feb and march updates are release, depending on content, I wager you will see an uptick in activity.

Quite frankly, other than the idiotic POSSIBLE change to the AOE system (read nerf) I have notihng I'm overly happy or mad about...at least till the updates start getting released and then we'll see. however, the AOE thing really is just stupid.
I agree almost completely with you here. I think that lack of discussion topics are a major cause of the lull on these forums.

I do give merrit to Vaynes comments as well. We lost quiet a few of our discussion leaders due to both negative comments.

But when we look at these things, we also have to consider that anet themselves have sent a good portion of our members packing as well.

Nothing is black and white, the truth is in the gray.
