    Need a performance boost

    Hey guys,

My laptop is old and is no longer the best, but I would like just a slight improve in my FPS, as it's always in between 5-20, and it's driving me mad. I've basically set everything to low/off in-game and would like to know if there is anything else I could do to boost my FPS. Especially when I'm at an event/in caves it drops to below 5, and it's just unplayable.

    My specs are as following:

    Intel Core Duo P7450 @ 2,13GHz
    Nvidia GeForce GT 240M
    4GB Ram

Is there anything I can do at all? I've set windows to the classic design instead of the fancy Windows 7 design as that supposedly would give me some extra fps. Do you guys know any other tips?

Thanks in advance and sorry if this is the wrong section for questions like these.

You have done most of the things I would do to improve performance and another thing I can think of would be to drop the resolution of the game as that may give you a small boost.

The only other way is to make sure your memory is the fastest your lappie will support. I take it that the GPU uses shared memory rather than fixed? You "may" get slightly more out of your lappie with faster clocked memory if it's shared with your GPU but as you already know, it's an old model laptop and you would be better off spending the money on a new laptop.

Well you are barely able to play as is so best advice is to get a cheap desktop that can play and use it. The desktop you'll more than likely be able to upgrade over time to improve preformance, but upgrading laptops (other than RAM) is a pain and depending on make/model very diffcult or impossible.

One thing you can try is playing in Full Screen Windowed mode if you aren't already. Some people I know ingame says it boosts fps on low end machines. I can't really confirm that, but I suppose its worth a try for you.

Hey guys, thanks a lot for your advices, but I just recently discovered something. Normally I have my laptop connected to my 42'' TV with a HDMI cable. When I disconnects the HDMI cable and just play on my laptop, I can actually play at 40-60 FPS. I do realize the screen resolution gets higher when I'm on my TV, but I even lowered it in-game, and it didn't change much. Any ideas?
