I have video footage of myself swimming under the WvW map during beta because I bugged through the ground.

And this isn't gone either, I have more footage of the same bug that I haven't uploaded post release of various areas around the game world.

Point is: Saying a game will fail because it has bugs in beta is kind of retarded, no matter who it comes from. Developer or consumer. That's why we have betas in the first place, because the game is obviously going to have bugs that need to be fixed and polished.

I see why Vayne left, you're annoying af.....you just have to be right don't you? Of course I know a game in beta usually has bugs, the point is that are a ton of them. Also, you disregarded what I said about it being just a wow copy. You made it sound like all I was focused on was bugs. SO WHAT, JUST THROW THE IDEA OF BUGS BEING A PROBLEM OUT OF THE GOD DAM WINDOW. If elder scrolls ends up as a wow copy, it's gonna fail. But whatever, go ahead and nit pick everything I just said, because you are all knowing and always right.

Look, when the general gaming public plays a beta these days it gives an overall opinion of the game. Whether the game is released or not, people are playing it and judging the game based on what they're seeing and experiencing. I don't think people should simply disregard everything that happens in a beta, just because it's a beta.

If the beta sucks then the beta sucks. That doesn't necessarily always equate to the finished game sucking, but it still gives you some idea of what to expect. Personally I'm against betas in general. Developers should have very restricted closed betas and only open beta once the game is basically finished.

This happens everytime a new MMO comes out. People get into beta, which is currently closed btw and under full enforcement of the NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT, so why this "EA friend" is talking about it in the first place is beyond me.

But anyway, some of the people that get into betas start spreading rumors that said MMO will suck, that it's buggy, that it's a clone of X game but until any of us see actual footage or heaven forbid play the game ourselves, all we're hearing is word of mouth from uncreditable sources.

So instead of believing what some random persons told us (regardless of their background) or what the masses believe. Why not wait to try it ourselves? Is that so hard?

Well, kind of. Word of mouth carries a lot of significance for other people and easily sways most one way or the other. Just look at movie reviews on IMDB. If people see that a movie was rated high then they're more inclined to see it. If it's rated too low then they will often pass it up completely. Not a lot of people watch movies after seeing a low rating just to make up their own mind about it. Sad but true, I know. When it's more than just a few people saying the same thing people tend to pay more attention to things.

Oh I agree. But those are at least creditable sources, that you can gauge easier than some random person saying "Oh yeah game sucks".

While certainly annoying, these are not bugs, that break a game, if they don't happen too often.

I can still remember WoW Vanilla, when my warrior used to charge out of the world (at the end of the charge attack you'd just start to fall to your death through solid ground). This was just one of many bugs that plagued WoW for the first years (nodes that couldn't be gathered for instance). And it happened quite frequently. Everyone who played a warrior at the beginning of WoW, will most likely be familiar with this issue.

So, just because a game has bugs (and at the beginning of Closed Beta there are bound to be a lot of them; After all, if it had no bugs, they would need no beta ) and especially at this early point of development doesn't mean the whole game will be a failure.

Also, the notion of the likelyhood of a delay of release doesn't come very surprising to me. I've seen very few MMOs released on the first date that had been announced for each respective game. Delays of a year or even more, are very common and, honestly, I think it's safe to say that the game won't come out in 2013, as the public closed beta has just started. I would be very surprised if it would come out in 2013, because then I would assume that it has been rushed by antsy publishers, like Warhammer was, for instance.

Haha I remember that. It was awful because you'd be forced to spirit rez since you couldn't reach your body, back when resurrection sickness was actually a big deal and people didn't have an endless supply of gold for repair bills.

    Pretty funny now though.

Games always die over time. GW2 is dying now. Maybe new content or expansions will save it; maybe not. It will always be the case that new games will arrive and provide competition. I played GW1 for 7 years with a few multi-month breaks and I always enjoyed it. I do not believe that GW2 will last as long due to some design issues, but you never know. The best part about non-subscription games is that you can always go back to it. I played Diablo 3 for a few months while waiting for GW2 to be released and initially enjoyed it, then got to the point that I hated it and flamed its failing on forums. I played some the other day and enjoyed it again. Hopefully GW2 will be resilient enough to be fun after taking some time off from it.
