During this timeperiod a WvWer, who refused to be forced into a gameplay that he didn't like, did WvW and obviously gained badges. How many, will depend on how hardcore said player is (and drop luck of course, but that's also true for FotM (Plus, support classes are at a disadvantage at obtaining WvW badges in relation to (AoE)DDs)) .
As you can see by above statements by both Bokiz and me, there's also a very large discrepancy in how many badges we've achieved. I'm not asking for me, to get all ascended gear for free (accurately it would not be for free, because I "wasted" as much time of my life for obtaining them, as any FotM player did (if the currency would be relatively equal regarding time/profit, which should of course be the fact)) and probably the time/profit equation of FotM is so fucked up that even Bokiz with his 2500 badges isn't entitled to one single piece of ascended gear, but he and I should at least have gotten a little closer to that goal.
Having to start from scratch with an all new currency is nothing more than a kick in the nuts. We should at least get some kind of reward for the time we spent in the game, just like the FotM grinders do/did. And if that's not ascended gear, then put something in that's equally powerful but without the infusions and thus only viable in WvW. There simply has to be something worthwile to spend the badges on. Because naturally, I get more and more of them and still have the same amount of things to buy (or not to buy, as it were) as in week one of the game.
Same thing goes for karma. I have so much karma and soooo effing little to spend it on...I can buy the whole sets twice or thrice by now. Why aren't there weapons or jewelery for karma?
Right now you have two currencies in the game that are pretty useless to everybody who has been lvl 80 for longer than a day. And now they are introducing a third currency....Why not put these other ones to better use?
Not that I'm entirely dissatisfied with the new stuff. That's at least one step into the right direction, because now I will finally have any means to obtain ascended gear, however long it may take for me via dailies. But that the WvW players (for whom it is also probably the hardest to finish the daily, if you want to WvW and not run around, gather nodes and farm different kinds of mobs...) seem to get the shaft again, is really disheartening.
