we had plenty of notice this was coming and transfer were free up until yesterday. Seems like you have no one to blame but yourself, you were given more than fair chance to change for free.

I tried to be smart and buy some unidentified dye and try sit on them for a while until prices go up but then remembered they'll be for sale through the new daily thing so got rid of them ASAP before the price crashed and I lost a few gold haha, I suck.
If you want to make some alright money sell mystic coins, I've built up 50 and they're worth 5 gold atm
I think a lot of people have suddenly jumped ship all of a sudden because of the change, I don't think I'd notice this happen until its too late either.
It's not like your server population is announced to you everytime you log on so I think it's easy for it to happen.
I think we should of all got one transfer ticket just incase but oh well.
I hear you, I haven't played in 6 weeks as a result of major surgery. But I managed to keep up to date via my friends. I does seem they have been hinting at it for about a month or more. I like the one time use ticket idea that was mentioned but hey its too late now.
You can always just make the best of the server you are on. With it being medium population it is certain to fill up with more people. It was definitely known from beta that the game would try to keep players on a server.
There is guesting option (between other EU) now until you can get off your server. There is also a lfg website that helps you find others to group with.

Well, it only really matters for WvW...so if you're not into that, it's not that big a deal. Of course, if you are into that, it could be. But for PVe, just guest over to a busier server. That's free.
There aren't many games that let you do that, you know.

Im sorry you missed all the "last chance to change servers" messages. Guesting will let you pve on high pop servers so your ok there until you can earn the gold to leave.
They said from DAY 1 that server transfers are not meant to be free, and that they will require gems at some point. It was supposed to be like that at launch but wasn't because guesting didn't work. The game has been out for over 4 months, the announcement about gems out for a few weeks. What more is AN supposed to do? Go to everyone's house and knock on their door to make sure they know whats what?
Whatever happened to personal responsibility? Yes, you may have been busy. RL may have gotten in the way. It a happens to all of us...and certain things come with the territory. You were away for a few weeks and things change...that'll happen in an MMO. AN made (imo) very reasonable steps from the start to warn people about this possibility. Even a tiny bit of due dilligence would have covered you...so no, I don't sympathise, sorry. Honestly, free server transfers were one of my biggets complaints about the game and I feel they shouldn't have been around from the start. Now that they're finally costing gems, I'm happy about it.
