Want to improve my desktop

hmm should I upgrade my CPU as well? Going to throw my budget out the window for now. I don't really have any outstanding bills to pay and taxes are coming soon. I'd like to not go overboard though. I'll go with the 7850 card and possibly (maybe) upgrade my CPU if you guys have any suggestions? That means I might need a different Power supply right?

Maybe maybe not. As you shop for things take a look at the power requirements. As others have said newer CPUs tend to use less power than your current one. If the requirements are near the same then the same lvl of PSU will be alright, but if you need more you might need to upgrade slightly. In my PC I have a 650 watt supply, but I have a liquid cooling system and a bunch of other cool stuff, but its pretty much just the cooler that needs the bigger supply. Just add things up as you are shopping and if you think you are close to the mark on the power needed then consider going a step up.

Heh you guys are awesome. I won't be messing around with my desktop. I'll be getting someone to help me with it. I'll ask about overclocking to because I read up on it and am afraid I might screw up somewhere. I'm pretty sure the cooler might fit but I'll take the measurements to be sure.
